If that is the name you want to give your child, please use it. A name is the first gift you give your child, and you don't want to regret not giving him the name you love. Remember, he will not be a baby forever, he will grow into a man with that name and people he meets as an adult will not worry about why he was given that name.

It never registered Christianity, religious fervor, piety, or anything else you might think. It's just a really nice, solid boy's name. There were many more pompous/self righteous Christians in that circle of people and it had nothing to do with their name. I actually like it for it's suggestion towards faith, and I would never hesitate to use it except for our hefty Italian surname that just doesn’t sound right!

But I am not religious though I know what you mean. Once when I was in a band, someone bought me a top that said rock star, but I would never have bought it myself. If you called your son Christian, it might cease to be a name and be more like a description. But does it really matter? if it feels right I think you should do it. I am fighting a losing battle with calling our son Christian, hubby doesnt want it1
