Yesterday I went for a growth scan to check on the baby..they found her growth was fine but the level of fluid around her was a bit low. So I was monitored for a while and then they had a look inside me to see if they could see a pool of water in my `you know what` (sorry if this is too much info) they said they saw no evidence that my waters were leaking but to heep my eye on things...However today after walking around for a while I felt really `damp` down there (sorry if this is too much info again!) How can I tell if it is just discharge or if its my waters and I should be worried?! If they checked yesterday..is there any chance they could be wrong and in fact my waters ARE leaking? I`m reluctant to ring the hospital because they will want me to go in and its AGES away..What should I do please?

MelissaJoanne - 214 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) It is most likely just discharge, not your amniotic fluid. Use a pantyliner, and check to see if it has a telltale ammonia smell.

Baby3OnWay - 215 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) low fluid i read can indicate fetus not producing enough urine and placenta may not be functioning but if fetus looked ok in the scan then there shouldn't be anything to worry about... i know during labor and delivery when this happens they gave to do an amnioinfusion...did they diagnose you with oligohyramnios??? (low amniotic fluid)

lady26 - 215 days ago Rating: 5 (1 votes) The truth of the matter is that only about 13% of the time will your water break prior to the onset of labor. In fact, more than 75% of the time your water won't break until you're well into labor and more than 9 centimeters dilated. When your water breaks you will know you'll feel like you just peed all over the place or sometimes its a trickle of warmth.

lmo - 215 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) it could be urine smell it i know with my daughter she would always push on my bladder if your are unsure call your doctor

monica9 - 215 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I would call your doctor again. it doesnt hurt to ask. They would rather you be safe then sorry. if you have to, exaggerate a little! it always works.

niki - 216 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) If its a discharge it shouldnt be a large amount - put a pad on and if it ends up quite damp then i would contact the hospital - fluid should be clear. My sister in law ended up leaking fluid and they injected steroids into her as the babys lungs wouldnt have developed right if they had to deliver but she went a week earlier than her edd. Hope this helps. take care x

Mommyof2boys - 216 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) If it smells like amonia its urine which is so normal to leak in pregnancy. If it smells sweet its amniotic fluid.

mommy-of-3 - 216 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) It could be leaking but the only way to really know is to observe the smell. (Sorry if sounds gross), ammonia is urine, sweet or no smell is water.)

Melanie07 - 216 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Yes it could still be. The baby could have been blocking the hole. The test is a very simple test. They use a paper strip that changes colors if it is your waters. I would definitely contact the doc. If you are leaking, they will most likely admit you so you don't get an infection. If it isn't then you could have just been a little dehydrated. It will cause the level to be lower. That happened to me. It showed low and then the next day was fine. It was really hot the day it was low. The doc said not getting enough fluids that day could cause it. I would get it checked to be safe. Think about your baby's health. You would do anything for your baby. They are used to pregnant moms calling often.

slg3233 - 216 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) You need to call labor and delivery if you are not sure what it is because I would rather be safe then sorry.

joyfulnoise - 216 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) You should feel free to contact labor & delivery at the hosptal and ask them what you should do. If it's just discharge then atleast you'll know not to be worrying and wondering.

RandiLee - 216 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I really don;t know, but you are close to your due date, and you never know...it could be fluid. I would definitely suggest you call your doctor, or the hospital, and see what they want you to do. Better safe then sorry! Good luck :)
