Yesterday I went for a growth scan to check on the baby..they found her growth was fine but the level of fluid around her was a bit low. So I was monitored for a while and then they had a look inside me to see if they could see a pool of water in my `you know what` (sorry if this is too much info) they said they saw no evidence that my waters were leaking but to heep my eye on things...However today after walking around for a while I felt really `damp` down there (sorry if this is too much info again!) How can I tell if it is just discharge or if its my waters and I should be worried?! If they checked yesterday..is there any chance they could be wrong and in fact my waters ARE leaking? I`m reluctant to ring the hospital because they will want me to go in and its AGES away..What should I do please?

It is most likely just discharge, not your amniotic fluid. Use a pantyliner, and check to see if it has a telltale ammonia smell.

The truth of the matter is that only about 13% of the time will your water break prior to the onset of labor. In fact, more than 75% of the time your water won't break until you're well into labor and more than 9 centimeters dilated.
When your water breaks you will know you'll feel like you just peed all over the place or sometimes its a trickle of warmth.

I would call your doctor again. it doesnt hurt to ask. They would rather you be safe then sorry. if you have to, exaggerate a little! it always works.

The dampness could be urine, smell it and if it has an amonia smell it is, but if it has a sweet smell to it then its the amniotic fluid leaking. Good luck!

If you are unsure of anything, always go back to your doctor or the hospital. It is the health of you and your baby that matters more than anything. To increase the amniotic fluid make sure you drink heaps of water.

honestly if you aren't sure about what the dampness was, well i would give them a call. I would also wear a pad and if it gets wet they can test it...i know b/c they did that with me on my last baby. btw...it turned out to be pee for me...lol so basically the nurses got to find out i was peeing on myself...lol. Oh joys of pregnancy

If it's your water it will have kind of a sweet smell to it. If it's just urine leaking it will smell of ammonia...

if its your water leaking it wouldn't stop. I actually had a 4 hour leak about 2 weeks before i actually gave birth. The waters replenish themselves though and my "tear" as they called it sealed back up.. if its non stop and keeps coming then its your water... also it wouldn't smell like pee if you smell it! discharge can come watery as well but not contiuously flow or drip!

If its a discharge it shouldnt be a large amount - put a pad on and if it ends up quite damp then i would contact the hospital - fluid should be clear. My sister in law ended up leaking fluid and they injected steroids into her as the babys lungs wouldnt have developed right if they had to deliver but she went a week earlier than her edd. Hope this helps. take care x

chances are it's just discharge but are you willing to take that chance? did they do a test of your discharge to see if it had amniotic fluid in it?

I'm sure it's probably just increase in discharge or just sweat down there Sorry if this is tmi..
I thought many times that my water had broke with my son but it had not.
You will def. know if your water broke.. your pants will be drenched!!
hope this helps!!
