I have really high anxiety and always have had. I`m wondering if anyone knows of a safe med to take while preggo.

Carmione - 84 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I took prozax up until 3 weeks or so ago, only because it was advised for the last months of pregnancy to cut down or stop so the baby doesn't grow dependent on it. Make sure whatever you and your dr discuss you are aware of the different "class types" of meds that are/are not deemed safe during pregnancy.

Baby3OnWay - 85 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I was actually taken off my meds for anxiety when I got pregnant last year and still as i got pregnant right after... My Dr told me that there was nothing out there he would feel 100% giving me so I have had to stick it out. The best person to talk to about it would be your family Dr. Good Luck and let me know what you find!

mommy-of-3 - 85 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Anxiety occurs for a lot of women during pregnancy, even for those who never had a problem with it before. The best thing would be to let your doctor know your history with this (if they don't already know) and let them prescribe something that will be safe for you and baby. Some meds are okay only at a certain stage of pregnancy so it's best to know for sure. Good luck to you.

JennSever - 85 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) depending on how far along you are right now..you might see a decrease in your anxiety or perhaps worse case scenario an increase. however, that being said - i don't know if a dr can honestly tell you how these meds will affect your growing baby w/ any kind of certainty. are the risks of anxiety greater than the risks of meds to your growing baby & pregnancy? if so , then take whatever meds. your dr. thinks will help. stress is 100% toxic during pregnancy. i hope that this pregnancy brings you peace.

MelissaJoanne - 85 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Pregnancy makes it harder to treat anxiety. Talk to your dr. about potential meds, and weigh out the options of whether or not treatment will be safe and effective.

RandiLee - 85 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I'm pretty sure that Paxil CR is safe.....check the website. It's very hard to get off of it, though.

lmo - 85 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) ask your doctor or local pharmacist for a list of safe anxiety meds while you are pregnant unfortunately it is harder to treat while being pregnant good luck

ashleyandcaleb - 85 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I've always had anxiety, now that im pregnant i have panic attacks, tell your doctor he may be able to prescribe something thats helpful to you and not harmful to the baby

Mommyof2boys - 85 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Don't you love it? Anxiety and being pregnant? I've had severe anxiety/panic attacks for 4yrs now and when I found out I was pregnant I was like ohmi how am I going to do this? There are some prescription meds you can take for anxiety while pregnant, you will need to talk to the doctor. I was taking paxil for 4yrs from when my Mom died and thats when all of my problems began, when I found out I was pregnant I had to quit cold turkey thank God I didn't have any problems. When I start to get anxious I take deep breaths and focus on something, I might go take a walk take a warm bath read or watch a movie, sometimes I even repeat to my self this is all in my head I'm okay and it will go away. Its hard but there's lots of ways to manage it with out meds. Good luck!

lady26 - 85 days ago Rating: 5 (1 votes) Unfortunately, the pregnancy makes it harder to treat the anxiety. If you're suffering - Talk to your care provider and your therapist before you do anything else. Your care provider and your therapist need to work together to come up with a treatment program that's safe for your pregnancy. Together, they may prescribe a safe medication or may feel therapy is all you need. Remember, doctors have only recently looked at the use of anti-anxiety medications during pregnancy. Doctors are still accumulating information about the safety of anti-anxiety medications. While there are some, including Prozac, that seem safe, long-term effects still haven't been determined. Consider alternative or homeopathic remedies for anxiety. Usually alternative or homeopathic remedies are safer during pregnancy than medications. There are exceptions though, so be sure you talk to your care provider and let any alternative doctors know you're pregnant before attempting any alternative remedies. Look at triggers for your anxiety or change your lifestyle to decrease your anxiety level. Perhaps hypnosis, visualizations, cognitive therapy or other relaxation practices are all you need to help with your anxiety.

joyfulnoise - 85 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Talk to your ob/gyn, only they can suggest a safe medication for something of this nature. Good luck!

brandi j. - 85 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I'm sorry that you are having to deal w/ this. I am not sure what would be safe, but your doctor would know what he/she thinks is safe.
