when did you start getting stretch marks? I read somewhere that even if you use the creams they arent preventable, they come if they wanna despite your efforts. Is there a way to make them go away,or is it something you just deal with and is part of being a mommie:)?

deal with it and love them. I was quite annoyed when 4 weeks before my D/Date i started to get them, thought i got away with it, but now my little bubs is here there is more important things to worry about than stretch marks. And everytime you see them it just reminds you that you nurtured a little human in there for 9 months, be proud!

Yep,it's something you either get or you don't..You can try lotions (they also help with the itchiness!!) but they didn't work for me...
You can try gaining weight at a slow steady pace-but sometimes your body just does what it does anyway...They DO fade after birth...

it is hereditary. Actually, my friend didnt get them and her mother had them all over her. My mother never had them, my sister did, and I dont (on week 37 so I guess i still have 3 weeks), and creams dont work. Just keep your body moisturized. i use Vitamin E oil.

My stretch marks started to grow around 12 weeks when my belly did. As my belly has grown so have my stretch marks. I have found that it doesn't matter what I put on them they still grow. Also, if I don't keep them moisturized they tend to get itchy. In my experience weight gain hasn't affected them because I have only gained 4 lbs so far but my belly is huge as are my stretch marks.

I used Palmers Cocoa Butter for stretch marks every morning and night because I was too scared not to. I didn't get any stretch marks, but I don't believe that the cream prevented them. I do believe it is mostly genetic and creams may help, but not prevent. Some women go through pregnancy without stretch marks but get them after the birth. Instead of stretch marks, I got horrible little red blood vessels on my face and chest during pregnancy. If you get stretch marks, wear them with pride. Your body has done the most amazing thing to achieve them ... creating a baby.

I never used any creams/lotions and never got any stretch marks with any of my 3 pregnancies. I think some of it has to do with genetics, but it's also important to stay hydrated and to not gain too much weight too quickly.

i haven't gotten them (yet at least), but my mom said that it follows genetics for the most part. just ask your mother if she had them while carrying you. that should give you a good idea

I started to get them around week 20 I would say because that is when I started to "pop". Most likely if women in your family have them you will have them as well because you will have the same type of skin. I got them HORRIBLY bad. Crotch to ribs. Others get them just on their hips or not at all. What a stretch mark basically is, is a scar. It starts out really red and begins to fade but they will never go away. They go to a white color in the end and that is that.

Some people get them some don't. It depends on you skin and body type and how big you get. I do think that vitamin E and cocoabutter help with the itching and dryness from the stretching. I used it with all three babies. I have only very few small stretch marks. I have 3 kids. They usually get lighter with time.

I started to get them around 19 weeks and the sad part is that I was never that big until now. Some people get them worse than other, but I know that with me using cocoa butter it helps them fade faster

I'm on my third pregnancy and never got a stretchmark AT ALL... it depends on your skin type. Some oils help to moisterize and say to help elasticity but I know woman who have used many creams and it did not help. There is Bio-Oil that is suppose to help eliminate the appearance of the stretch marks later though... never tried it but heard great things

If your mum has them then the chances are that you'll get them too. Creams keep your skin moisturised but wont prevent them. I developed them at about 33 weeks. But now 6 months after she was born they've almost faded to silvery marks.

I think mine came in around 18 weeks with my oldest. The good thing is that they don't stay that icky red color forever. With time they begin to fade and will turn a silvery grey color that is a lot less noticeable.

I got a 1 line and a 1 dot stretch mark at 17 weeks on the lower right side of my bump, then nothing until arounnd 32 weeks and got a semi circle of them under my belly button - but I love my baby more than I hate the marks - they are my mummy warrior scars! :-)

From 31 weeks my stretch marks started thought i may have been lucky enough not to have got them - but there you go. I think theres too much press about the creams, i did try a couple but no joy..... every stretch mark was well worth my daughter and so im proud of them.

Its everyone's own body and elasticity some women use that cream religously and get them others don't use it and don't get it. Everyone's body is different.

thats right darlen - even if you gain very little weight, genetically speaking, if your momma or sis got stretch marks your chances increase dramatically. since you have darker skin, after a few months to yrs, they should diminish greatly. i know its heartbreaking to get them, but try and try to think of them as rites of passage. motherhood is such a magnificent blessing. i have 3.75 babies and i love every mark left by them. so does my S/O!:)

i didnt get my stretch marks until i was almost 9 months, try to avoid scratching your stomach pat your stomach with a damp cloth, coco butter helps and then there are creams that your can use that will lighten the stretch marks, but it basically comes with the territory. :)

Stretch marks happen because your skin is expanding at such a rapid rate, particularly in the 6th and 7th months. You're more likely to get stretch marks if you are carrying multiples or a big baby or gained weight especially quickly. Genetics also play a factor -- if your mother or sister got stretch marks, you probably will, too.
Although there are no sure ways to prevent stretch marks, there are a few measures you can take. No hard evidence supports that lotions and creams work, but moisturizing and staying hydrated are great ways to protect your skin's elasticity. The good news is, stretch marks should fade considerably in the months after you deliver. If you're later unhappy with your skin's appearance, see a dermatologist for treatment options such as prescription creams and laser therapy.

15 weeks, none yet. Use cocoa butter to keep yourself supple, but I think if you're going to get them you're going to get them. (yep, part of being a mommy)

I don't have any, but if I did start getting them, I don't think its a big deal just a reminder you have a cute growing baby inside your tummy:)

I started getting stretch marks around week 24. It's just part of being a mommy, some people don't get them (they say it's genetics) but if you're gonna get them, you're gonna get them and no amount of cream will keep them completely away.

7 and 1/2 months for me. Use cocoa butter. It helps. But nothing will make them go away completely. You should be proud of them.
