I am 36 weeks measuring 37cm, but the doctor says the baby is pretty small, still under 6lbs. What gives? Additionally, my cervix has started to thin, but I am not dialated. Any chance Ill deliver earlier than 40 weeks?

Melanie07 - 82 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) The measurements the doc gives is just an estimate. They were wrong with all 3 of my kids. I had all three about 2 weeks early. They were 8lbs 12 ozs., 8lbs. 2 ozs., and 9lbs. 10.2ozs. All bigger than what they expected. With my first I went to the doc and they told me I still had another week or two before she was to be born. Well, my husband and I walked around the mall and home. (We didn't have a working car). I went into labor the next day. With my last one, I was at 3cm for a few weeks.

Brandi J. - 84 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) It is very possible that your baby is bigger than what the doctor is "guessing" at. Also, some ppl will have smaller babies, my 3rd baby was born weighing 6 lbs 10 oz, and she was born at exactly 39 weeks. It is hard to know when you will deliver, I usually go from nothing to ready to deliver in just a few hours, but then there are women who start dialating but then everything stops and they go over! It is so hard to know when your baby is going to decide that it is time. Any way it goes, you will for sure hold your precious baby very soon!

MelissaJoanne - 84 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) There is a chance, but you'll probably make it to full term

mommy-of-3 - 84 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My guess is that you will go to 40 weeks. The measurement thing is just an estimate, I have always measured 2 weeks ahead with mine and I still went to my due dates....

lady26 - 85 days ago Rating: 5 (1 votes) You will make it to full term

mattie4 - 85 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) it is normal to deliver between 36 - 40 wks. So really it could happen, but then again...you could be looking at going over 40, with babies...one never knows. If your dr gets concerned about the size he will keep a good eye on it no doubt. :) good luck!!

denee85 - 85 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My baby measured a little over 5 lbs at 34 weeks and was born at 40 weeks 7lbs 7oz..Most of the way they measure is just an estimate-however close it may actually be,it CAN be off by up to a pound...

Christina1984 - 85 days ago Rating: 3 (1 votes) i think theres a good chance u will, maybe by 38 wks

mtnwoman - 85 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Don't worry about the size, my boy was 10 days overdue and weighed only 6 lbs 9oz. I was thankful to not have to push a bigger baby out! I started thinning around that time as well, but didn't loose my plug or have any signs until the day I gave birth. Every pregnancy is different and if you get to have and hold your baby early then congrats! But if not, try to enjoy the last few weeks of being pregnant, your life will be completely different once baby is born!

kmokat - 85 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) You could deliver early, but probably not. Some people are fully effaced and dialted 2-3 for several weeks. Doctors can also be off on the size of the baby. They said my baby was small and Idelivered a healthy 7lb 11oz baby on her due date.

monica9 - 85 days ago Rating: 4.5 (2 votes) you might deliver earlier than 40 but dont get your hopes up. my doc said my girl is measuring a week behind but her weight is good. the u/s can go up to two weeks ahead or behind. its not big deal. my baby was 5lbs 10oz. at 36.4 weeks and she is in the 45th percentile, so your baby is fine too!

lmo - 85 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) You could deliver earlier, every baby is different

niki - 85 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Every baby is different weight and length.... when i was born i was 6lbs 9oz with no health problems... my daughter was 8lbs 5oz and shes very healthy - you could deliver sooner but your now at your final few weeks so dont worry too much. take care x

windchime - 85 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My niece was only 4.5 lbs at birth, born by caesarian about 1 wk early. Perfectly healthy.

Baby3OnWay - 85 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I dought delivering early i sat at 4cm 100%effaced for nearly 4weeks... the water sac was buldging and so they broke my water at 38.5 weeks to get me into labor... measuring the baby and weight is not alway accurate either. 6lbs is not too bad considering they gain most weight fast in the last month! My babies were all born 7-8lbs and the estimate on weight a month before was either too high or way too low and they came out PERFECT!! Best of luck in the upcomin weeks!

Mommyof2boys - 85 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Its okay to measure a few cm more, as far as delivery goes you could go before or later than your duedate, your cervix can be thinning for weeks before your due date. Good luck!
