Hello ladies...I wanna ask something that might be TMI but i guess im getting kinda worried. This is my 3rd pregnancy and with my first everytime me and hubby had sex i would cramp for hours. It got bad at the end. At 36 weeks i was 3cm, and induced with him at 37 weeeks. I dont know what caused it but i was leaking amniotic fluid. It was just droppes but i noticed it. Anyways with my last pregnancy it was the same thing except starting at month 6 I would have bad contractions afterwards. I was 35 weeksand we did it and when we were done i started contracting and eventualy it got regular. It went on for like an hour or 2. The next day i had doc check me and she said i was between 3-4cm. So she kept me at the hospital till i turned 36 weeks or the day before and then i had my baby. Well today when we did it i felt good and thought wow im not in pain. I did kinda hurt last time. It was mainly pressure. Then it started...I had 2 sever contractions in front, and my back and down my legs!!! They hurt so bad i grabbed the table and breathed hard. I was shocked at how bad it was! Then i just kept cramping. My back felt like a big painful cramp and my belly hurt like i was on my period. So now i dont know. Im affraid to tell doc cuz im sure she will say no sex. I guess my question is...Is the sex causing it or the semen? (i did orgasm) Im so sorry this is long and prolly tmi but i need some GOOD ADVICE!!!! Any questions welcome!

wildberry - 64 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) your doc probably will tell you pelvic rest i was on pelvic rest(that means no"O" and no sex) for ten weeks it's not that bad at least you will know that your baby is safe

Melanie07 - 64 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) It is probably a little of both. If it has put you in labor before, I would definitely wait till at least 38 weeks. You should also tell your doctor. Don't jeperodize your baby's safety just so you can have sex. You only have a few more weeks.

LMO - 65 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) most likely it is the orgasm that is causing the painful contractions

skittles0607 - 65 days ago Rating: 4 (1 votes) I would wait on the whole sex thing for awhile. Tell him to pull out because they say semen causes contractins. Be careful and you should not orgasm either. That may help alittle. It also could be the position you are engaging in..

kater - 67 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i would say dont have any more sex until the baby is older, and it would be safer for it to be born. yes you should tell your doctor, just to be on the safe side. also to see if its the sex or the semen, try some more gentle touching next time you feel in the mood, go slowly and see if it causes any contractions. if you feel anything bad, stop

MelissaJoanne - 67 days ago Rating: 5 (1 votes) The orgasm caused it (it does sound like you're having a great time with your husband, other than the cramps!). Orgasm causes contractions, which feels lovely when you're not pregnant, but can feel pretty much as you described if you are pregnant. The semen isn't causing the pain by itself, and I don't think that your doctor would necessarily say no sex, maybe just not such *good* sex. ;-)

Christina1984 - 67 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i heard orgasms can cause that. ur doc prob will say no sex but tell him anyway

candace3 - 67 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I just want to say I am so jealous of all your good loving you are getting. My hubby is so not turned on by my tummy. He has been like this with every pregnancy, so I am used to it. Orgasm is what stimulates the uterus. I think you should still tell your doctor, just in case. You don't want to risk going into premature labor.

UKMama - 67 days ago Rating: 5 (1 votes) It's the orgasm that is causing the painful contractions after sex. BUT, some women are very sensitive to the prostaglandins in semen in the early months and later weeks of pregnancy too and you sound like one of them! The combination of orgasm and semen in a few women is enough to get their bodies very excited and start them into labour. I can't help but think it would be best for YOU either to not have sex at all while you are pregnant (erm, if it's as good as it sounds I imagine you won't want to try that??!!) OR use a condom plus try and weaken your orgasms by stopping whatever it is that drives you crazy :0} before it gets so very gorgeous. If you experience orgasm easily and can't reduce the size of them (lucky you!) you really really should try and avoid them altogether until you are 37 weeks. We don't make love while I'm pregnant after having miscarriages straight afterwards. You, and him, CAN get used to it, if necessary!

monica9 - 67 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) It was probably his semen not your orgasm that is causing the contractions. Ive heard that you can get leg pain after sex also so its normal. But b/c you are 20 weeks Id advice you to call doctor. Its more importannt that you keep your baby safe rather than have sex for the next 20 weeks.

JennSever - 67 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) its the orgasm - it contracts the uterine muscles. you do need to be careful if you don't want pre-term labor. if your far enough along then you don't have to worry.

Brandi J. - 67 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) His semen can cause your cervix to soften, but your orgasm is most likely what is causing the painful contractions. I think you should tell your doc, obviously your body is more sensitive to the effects of sex when you are pregnant, and I would say that you probably need to abstain until closer to the end of your pregnancy that way if you go into labor, at least then you will be full term!

Baby3OnWay - 67 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I know that I get the same way with sex and cramping but not to that extreme/ I did have sex to induce me with the 1st, and I was 4cm with my second at 34 weeks... all I can say is to see the Dr and see what they say... sex or no sex you ahve to do whats right for your baby. SUCKS I KNOW, but just check itout!

Mommyof2boys - 67 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Some doctors will stop women from having sex if its causing problems, most cases sex isn't a problem and they say it doesn't cause women to go into labor and then i've heard opposit where it does. I would talk to the doctor if I were you and see what they think, you might have to skip sex until after the baby gets here. Good luck!

springtime - 67 days ago Rating: 5 (1 votes) You should really talk to your doctor and not have sex again until you do. This seems to be problemsome for you and you have a history of this same problem. The best bet is to wait until the doctor gives you the green light.

klasnaya - 67 days ago I know that. But i guess im worried about preterm labor! Maybe i wont have him go in me. Thats my question.

lady26 - 67 days ago Rating: 5 (1 votes) Sex is use as a natural form of induction. Thats why you have contractions after sex.
