im almost 20 weeks pregnant with our second and im having a lotttt of cramping and tenderness tonight. is this ok? i had a killer headache earlier today which feels better but now im having pains in my belly. i had a lot of braxton hicks with our first, but definately not painful this early. the baby seems fine, is moving a lot and kicking. by the way, its not the same as muscular pain or stretching - its very similar to the painful braxton hicks contractions i had at around 35 weeks.

Better to explain how your feeling to the doctor - theres a big difference from 35 weeks with your first to 20 weeks with your 2nd better safe than sorry. take care x

my doctor told me that with each pregnancy you have the braxton hicks you have as for headaches it could be if you stopped drinking caffeine or anemia just check with your doctor

I think you should get some professional advice, check with your doctor or midwife.

Drink some water and lay down for a bit..Or take a warm bath..Then while you're resting time your contractions to see if they get closer together and more intense...I am also pregnant with my second and started braxton hicks pretty early (about 18 weeks) and they have gotten more intense over the weeks...As long as you don't see the pattern in intensity/getting closer together and you have NO bleeding or extra discharge then I'd say you're fine..Just mention it to your doctor at your next appointment..good luck:)

With my second child I had a lot more apin then with the first. I had a lost of groin pain, pressure, back pain sciatic... its just the joys of pregnancy. If your worried about it though there is no trouble in making an appointment to check on things. I know mine got so bad a few times I went in to get it looked at. The told me more liquids and time resting with my feet elevated but you never do know! Take Care

It is likely Braxton Hicks, since this is not your first child you will probably be feeling them earlier and stronger. It can't hurt to check with your doctor to be on the safe side.

Get checked out. My sis in law just had cramping at 20 weeks, she decided to go get them checked out, turns out she was having contractions. They gave her a shot and hers stopped, she could still feel them for a while, but she felt better after resting. Even if it turns out to be nothing, at least you will know.

With my second pregnancy I got bh contractions from 5 months on up and they did hurt. My doc told me to drink lots of water. Im starting to get them alot with this pregnancy also and plan on telling my doc at next appt. I think if they get too painful for you and you feel somthing is wrong then you should let your doc know.

I totally agree with Mommyof2boys. And Braxton Hicks really ARE a lot stronger the more kids you have. There were lots of times I wondered if I was going into labor. They say if you have more than 4 an hour (lasting at least one minute) for two hours consecutively...that you should call the doctor. Hope you feel better soon...take it easy.

You can have braxton hicks sooner with you second pregnancy I heard and they can be a lot worse the second go around. Lay on your left side and drink lots of water, if that doesn't help I would make a doc apt to see whats going on. If the baby is moving sounds like it's just eary braxton hicks. Also the round ligament pain and streching is also worse the second go around. Good luck!
