My mother in law is hosting a baby shower for me on Sunday, 2 hours away. I will be 37 weeks the Thursday before then. I should still be alright to make the 2hour trip with my husband, right?

katznkt - 73 days ago Well, I talked to my doctor and she said it was risky, but fine as long as I walked every 45 min of the drive. I didnt manage that, but did take one break in the drive. I am back and all is well (that i know of. Happy Mothers day!

Melanie07 - 78 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My doc would not let me travel that far that late in pregnancy. you should check with your doc first. You are far enough along to where you could very easily go into labor. Long drives are not good during pregnancy to begin with. If your doc does say it is ok, they will probably have you stop halfway and walk around. My doc made me do that for an hour and a half drive when I was 32 weeks. They say you have an increased risk of blood clots if you don't circulate the blood.

Baby3OnWay - 78 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I think you will be ok. I traveled that far at 38 weeks to see family. As long as you feel comfortable and its not for days at a time... have a fun time!!

Brandi J. - 79 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I would not feel comfortable making that drive, is there any way that your mother in law could have the shower at your home or somewhere closer to your home. My doctor always tells me when I am 35 weeks not to travel more than 1/2 hour away. I haven't ever had a high risk pregnancy, and I haven't ever delivered before week 38, but this is his reccommendation for all of his patients. If she cannot move the location, then I suggest that you contact your doc and see what he/she thinks about it. Some doctors will tell you that it is ok but to be sure to stop at least every hour and get out and stetch your legs, this may be the advice that your doc gives. Congrats on being so close to meeting your sweet little baby!!

Mommyof2boys - 79 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) The doctor will usualy tell you its safe as long as you and baby are doing well just have your hubby pull over ever little while for you to strech your legs use the restroom and be out of the car to get some fresh air.

JennSever - 79 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i don't see why not - perhaps you could get out 1hr into travel to loosen your leg muscles, but other than that you should be fine. just be weary of leg clots (not to scare you) as they do happen this late in preg. oh, and have lots of fun:)!

eastern-Canadian-Lady - 79 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My doc told me that if I planned to drive any distance during pregnancy that it was imperative for us to stop the car every 45 minutes to one hour. He said I had to get out and walk around for 5 minutes bc there is an increased risk for blood clots in pregnancy. He said that as long as I followed this advise, that me and the baby would be fine. I had to stop five times on my 4 hour trip. (I think h was more paranoid than I was, he made us stop at 45 minutes, LOL.) There were no problems at all as a result. have fun at the shower.

ashleyandcaleb - 79 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I think you should get it approved by your doctor.

skittles0607 - 79 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I totally agree with MelissaJoanne. It will be good to do some research because that far along you could go at anytime. Good Luck

slg3233 - 79 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) As long as you aren't traveling by plane or anything you should be fine just driving in a car.

MelissaJoanne - 79 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) If you are traveling by car, you should be fine. As others suggested, it would be a good idea to research hospitals in the area, just in case. You might want to plan to stop halfway though the trip just to make sure you're stretching and letting the blood flow. I just scrolled down to see that you already researched the hospital, so I think you're on top of it.

Godispeace - 79 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Are you traveling by vehicle, train, airplane? I know by experience that the airplane will not accept you to fly at this time. Trains I would not take the risk but in a vehicle if your baby decides is time you can always deliver at a close by hospital. I don't think you should worry but if you're that concerned you should talk to your doctor to hear what he has to say.

mrscolegrove - 79 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) yeah u should be ok but i know u cant fly after i think its 28 weeks

lmo - 79 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I Think you will be fine.

agonzales - 79 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I would think you will be fine as long as it isnt too far away and you arent having any problems right now.

niki - 79 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Some airlines wont let you travel look into it just to be sure. if your driving it should be grand if you have regular stops to walk about. take care x

kalliemae - 79 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I think that as long as you feel up to it, then go ahead. Use your own judgment.

christina1984 - 79 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) im sure you'll be fine. its only 2 hrs my fiance wants me to travel 9 hrs away for a week when im about 36 wks. now that i think is cutting it too close for a far away trip.

lady26 - 79 days ago Rating: 5 (1 votes) Yea, as long as you are feeling well on the day.

joyfulnoise - 79 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Yes, I think so. Enjoy your shower!

monica9 - 79 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I think so. I would have doctor check you out for effacement and dilation, not that its a definite indication but it will help you some. good luck and enjoy your shower

katznkt - 79 days ago oh, and I know that I have already started to efface, and didnt know if that means that I am more likely to go into labor early than not

katznkt - 79 days ago I am really comfortable with the hospital in the area, it is the one that I was born in and is completely state of the art, and even better than the one I would deliver in here. And since my husband would drive me, I would be with him, and then my mother-in-law and mother/father/sis would all be there, because they all live in the town 2 hours away. So I am really just worried about stressing the baby or myself on the actual ride there or back.

baby.bray - 79 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) thats really upto you, how your pregnancy has gone so far and how you feel sweetie x

KarenVG - 79 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) You should be fine if you have had no complications so far and your first. I would go, like wildberry says just be sure of a hospital in the area just incase you need it. I am sure you wil be ok. try to enjoy it rather than worry about it.

wildberry - 79 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) wow that's a tricky question yes you should be fine but it wouldn't be a bad idea to look up the hospitals in her area just in case have fun at your shower
