I`m 23 weeks and noticed this morning that one of my breasts was leaking clear, sticky, fluid from my nipple. I know that this can be normal a little later on in the pregnancy, but is it normal so early in the pregnancy? And if so, what is it and will it continue?

Melanie07 - 79 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) It is very normal. I did not leak during my first pregnancy. I did with my 2nd and 3rd. It got earlier with each. If it gets worse, just buy some breast pads. You can find them where you buy baby bottles.

megbug - 79 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I leaked at 23 weeks as well. My doctor said that it was a great sign since I plan on breastfeeding. She said it's tempting to sqeeze it out, but that will only cause you to make more.

Baby3OnWay - 79 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) COLOSTRUM and it may continue throughout... my mom leaked this throughout her entire pregnancy with my brother. Just get some breast pads, either disopsabe or you can get cotton washable ones to save on $$!! some woman get this and other don't.

Mommyof2boys - 80 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Very normal early or late in pregnancy and sometimes not at all women will experiance it but still have great milk supply. Your breasts produce colostrum beginning during pregnancy and continuing through the early days of breastfeeding. This special milk is yellow to orange in color and thick and sticky. It is low in fat, and high in carbohydrates, protein, and antibodies to help keep your baby healthy. Colostrum is extremely easy to digest, and is therefore the perfect first food for your baby. It is low in volume (measurable in teaspoons rather than ounces), but high in concentrated nutrition for the newborn. Colostrum has a laxative effect on the baby, helping him pass his early stools, which aids in the excretion of excess bilirubin and helps prevent jaundice.

Brandi J. - 80 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Yes this is normal, it is colostrum. Colostrum is the first milk your breasts produce in the early days of breastfeeding. This special milk is low in fat, and high in carbohydrates, protein, and antibodies to help keep your baby healthy. Some women start leaking during pregnancy, some as early as the 1st trimester, and then some women will not start until after the baby is born. If you find that you are leaking enough to need breastpads, I suggest the ones made by Lansiloh, you can find them at Walmart. The other brands that I have tried are flat and circular and they show under my shirt.

JennSever - 80 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) mine have not leaked and this is my 4th baby, however, there many women on here that joined the "leaky bood" club quite early and some are just joining (i'm 30 wks) so its not uncommon at all. not too sure why i don't as i have nursed a total of 6 yrs if you put all my babies together.

ashleyandcaleb - 80 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) it's just colostrum,i started around that time..at the library.lol.it was pretty awkward.

skittles0607 - 80 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) It is very normal. It could be leaking more because you are laying on it and causig pressure.. Just sleep with breast pads on..

slg3233 - 80 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I don't know because when I leaked it was later on in pregnancy. I am 34 weeks with my 3rd and haven't leaked yet, thank God!!! But I am pretty sure that it is okay. You could ask your doctor just to be safe.

MelissaJoanne - 80 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Hah, it has happened to me already (I'm just under 16 weeks!). You're leaking colostrum, it's fine, safe, and normal. You will probably continue to notice it off and on throughout pregnancy. You will be nice and ready to nurse when baby comes!

Godispeace - 80 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) It happened to me around my third and fourth month of pregnancy then it stopped. I don't think you should be concerned, your body is producing milk and I'm sure you already noticed your boobs getting bigger due to this.

mrscolegrove - 80 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) yeah this is normal and it will continue to happen probly off and on in ur pregnancy

Debra - 80 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) This is colostrum, it will continue. Massage this good stuff into your nipples- especially overnight and let it dry. It will help to condition your nipples for breastfeeding. If the leaking is too much, just get some breast pads. Change them if they become wet at all.

lmo - 80 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) it is completely normal and it will continue to leak try getting some pads to put in your shirt

jessicadarling - 80 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) You betcha its normal. I started leaking around 5 months pregnant and just kept on leaking. It would stop for a few days but if I tried to express it, it would come out. It would only ever leak a few drops. At least when I delivered I knew I would be able to feed my daughter because I knew it was there

niki - 80 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I wouldnt be concerned if you plan on breastfeeding its a good sign.

kalliemae - 80 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) All women are different. I didn't leak at all and I thought there was something wrong with me.

christina1984 - 80 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i had asked the same question on here at 23 wks. i started leaking from one side, still am at 25 wks. everyone said its normal and said it is called colostrum ( i know the spelling is wrong) i actually saw a tiny spot of white the other day.

lady26 - 80 days ago Rating: 5 (1 votes) It's normal, some women start leaking colostrum earlier than others in their pregnancy

joyfulnoise - 80 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Yes, this is normal. I am 24 weeks and have had a little leaking a couple times already, but I don't have it everyday or anything.

monica9 - 80 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Ive heard of that happening and it doesnt mean anything bad. At least you know you will have a good supply when the baby needs it. good luck

jbsmommy - 80 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Iam also having leakage and it is normal! but if there is a large amount you might want to check with your doctor! Like i said iam experiencing that too I did that with my son and when he was born i wasnt able to breast feed and i never had the let down! any answers on that one?

baby.bray - 80 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i personally started leaking a 24 weeks x

katznkt - 80 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) It is completely normal. It is colostrum, the first "milk" your baby will get. It can start at anytime, and it will probably continue until your milk comes in a couple days after you deliver. It shouldnt be leaking too much, but if it bothers you you can put in some of the nipple shields for leaking breast milk and ask your doctor.

wildberry - 80 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) most woman start to leak colostrum during pregnancy and no 23 weeks is not to early to start yes it will most likely continue until 24 to 72 hours after you give birth and that is when your milk will come in
