nosebleeds do tend to occur more often during pregnancy. Pregnancy can cause the blood vessels in your nose to expand, and your increased blood supply puts more pressure on those delicate vessels, causing them to rupture more easily. Although it's unpleasant and inconvenient, an occasional minor nosebleed is generally harmless.

It's one of those 'normal' pregnancy things they say. Some people will experience it and others won't. I am like monica9, I only get blood when I am blowing my nose.

Hi!I never had one with any of my pregnancies but I know it's normal and have known several woman who got bad nose bleeds while they were pregnant. I would let ur midwife know. It's always best to let ur midwife or doctor know EVERYTHING and ANYTHING you see going on with ur body while pregnant, if for anything it's always reasurring to hear it's normal from ur doctor or midwife...so even if it seems like no big deal just tell them. Good luck with ur pregnancy.

Its normal during pregnancy. I got it with my first pregnancy and this one. Your blood vessels are enlarged during pregnancy and you're pumping more blood for you and baby.

Nosebleeds are common because pregnancy enlarges the blood vessels in your whole body, including your nose. What has helped me with my nosebleeds is sleeping with a humidifier on (a cool air one so it actually kind of air conditions my bedroom too) and using saline nasal spray to lubricate everything.

Can be normal - due to the increase of hormone levels - does strange things to pregnant women.

You're especially likely to get a nosebleed when you have a cold, sinus infection, or allergies, or when the membranes inside your nose dry out, as they do in cold weather, air-conditioned rooms, airline cabins, and other dry environments. These are some things that you can do to help prevent the nose bleeds. Drink extra fluids to help keep all of your mucous membranes well hydrated.
• Blow your nose gently. Aggressive blowing can lead to nosebleeds.
• Try to keep your mouth open when you sneeze.
• Avoid dry air, especially in wintertime or in dry climates, by running a humidifier inside your house and not overheating your bedroom. Also stay away from irritants like smoke, which you should be avoiding anyway.
• Use a lubricant to prevent nasal dryness. Some experts recommend petroleum jelly. Others suggest a special water-based nasal lubricant that is available over the counter at pharmacies. Saline nasal sprays or drops can help, too.
I actually knew that I was pregnant w/ #3, b/c my nose started bleeding and I only get nose bleeds during pregnancy. But yes, this is something that you will want to mention to your midwife, you need to share all symptoms and concerns w/ her.

Nose bleeds are just fine! Had them many times myself. You just have so much more blood in your body when your pregnant, and your hormones are so different, you can have the spontanious nose bleed and it's just fine. Gums bleed a lot more too when your preggers....don't be alarmed!
