femi - 87 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) we heard the heartbeat at 9 weeks. did you get to hear it? (i see this question posted 4 days ago and your appointment has mostly likely come and gone)

lilcbabii - 90 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I heard my babies heartbeat at 8 weeks. This was with the internal exam

hearttheystole - 90 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I had my 1st apt at 8 weeks and they didnt do an u/s or listen for a heartbeat. he just did an internal exam kinda thing and ordered blood work. i think it depends on your dr...

laurabeth - 90 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I heard the heart beat at 5 weeks and 5 days. So expect that!!! Maybe an ultra sound. It really just depends.

skittles0607 - 90 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) At my 9 week appt I couldn't hear the heartbeat. I did see it via ultrasound.. It was trans-vaginal. Yuck!!! I had a pap smear and I have to go somewhere else to get my bloodwork done.. They weight and I had to pee in a cup for other tests..

nich-vegas-mommy2be - 90 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) At my first 'official' visit, they did an u/s for 'viability' and took some measurements, showed us his hearbeating on screen, and then let us hear the hearbeat while we watched. (10 wks) You will probably get some blood work done and they will take your blood pressure and all of that. Depending on your doctor's office, your u/s could be abdominal or trans-vaginal. My doc's office policy is to do the first one trans-vaginal...boo.

stephandisaac - 90 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I had a U/S at 10 weeks and heard the babies heart beat. When I went to my first appointment at 9 weeks, they said it would probably be to early to hear the heartbeat, but it was there...nice and strong :) Good luck :)

Baby3OnWay - 91 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i would say its too early, but I have heard of a few lucky people but it unlikly

Rebekahs-mama - 91 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I had a sono at my first appointment. I was 8 weeks along at the time. Then I went back at 10 weeks (I was considered high risk in early pregnancy) and they were still unable to hear the heartbeat...so they did another sono and everything was fine. They may or may not be able to hear the heartbeat at this early stage. I think a lot depends on if you're overweight or not (which I am). Either way, you'll probably have a sono to confirm the due date! Good luck and enjoy!

denee85 - 91 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Different doctors do ultrasounds at different times during pregnancy..My first ultrasound was at 6 weeks to make sure how far along I was..Then I had one at 9 weeks to check because I had some spotting..But I think the usual times are 12 and 20 weeks..They don't usually pick up the heartbeat on doppler until about 10-12 weeks. They will ask you alot of questions and do weight/bloodpressure/urine and possibly blood tests there..They will probably do a pap smear and a breast exam. Good luck:)

Holly28 - 91 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) In response to what Karen said: I think it depends on both where you live and the Dr. I had my first OB appt at 6 weeks! As for hearing the heartbeat. with the doppler. It is possible but not necessarily 100% that you will hear it this early on. I didn't get to hear my heartbeat for the first time until I was 14 weeks. No such luck when the Dr tried at my 10 week visit. I had my first u/s for dating at 10 weeks so you might get one. There you will definitely here the heartbeat. :-)

KarenVG - 91 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) If it is with an OB you are lucky to see them that ealry. Here we do not get to see them normally until we are about 18 weeks. Sometimes they find it hard to get the heartbeat, so if that happens don't panic! You may get a ultrasound but do not expect to find the sex tha early. Here we only get one routine ultrasound at around 18 weeks unless there is a problem. I hope you get one they are great especially the very first baby. All OB's have different ideas of what is necessary so do not be disappointed if you do not get a ultrasound for a few more weeks. I am 17 weeks and getting my routine one in a couple of weeks. I did have an early one this time to make sure it was only one baby in there!!! All the best for the pregnancy

professorpreggers - 91 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Congratulations on your pregnancy! 9 weeks is usually a good time to hear the heart beat for the first time. They will also do a sonogram to check the uterus, the embryo, look for any cysts on the overies etc. The baby's heart beat this early can be on the low side, but not to worry. It will speed up as the baby develops. You should walk away with pics from the sonogram. Good luck tomorrow!
