Hi ladies! I have a question about testing. I was wondering if any of you have tested before your period was due? I was thinking about buying a two-pack of early response tests and taking one this Sunday since it`s Mother`s Day! I thought it would be such a wonderful gift to have a positive! But I will only by 11 DPO at that time. I would save the second test for the following week if the first turns out negative. What do you think? Which brand do you trust the most? I really would like to go digital this time but I`ve read they aren`t as sensitive. But then I found out today that First Response now makes an early detection test. Have any of you used this new digital, yet? Thanks so much! I look forward to hearing from you!

i tested before i was due b/c i felt like i was preggo...i failed the first test and passed one just days later, and I used first response but not the digital. i took the second one because failing the first one just didn't feel right - trust your gut, not your hopes!

I found out I was preggers a couple days before the day my period was due. It was a very faint line. You could test early but, you may get a negative. It may be a little too early. If you do try it. I would use the first morning pee. It will give the best results. I have never used the digitals.

I've used the digital early response tests. That's the only kind I liked to use. I hated decifering between lines and colors. Too confusing. Go for it! It sounds like a great time to find out. As long as you fall in to the appropriate time frame advised by the test. Otherwise you might set yourself up for a problem in testing.

The digital ones worked for us. maybe thats just b/c i happen to be pregnant the month I tried that brand, but 11dpo seems early. the drs. can do blood test as of 10dpo but they say you cant test through urine until day of missed period due to the fact that the hcg hormone doesnt show up in your urine until then. i think its still early but if you are eager then make sure you do it first thing in morning b/c urine is most potent and make sure you have another test for next week and dont get discouraged if first one doesnt show up. We were too scared to test on day of missed period or earlier b/c it took us over 2 agonizing years to get pregnant and i was scared of the negative sign. We did about 3 days past missed period. good luck

I tested about a week before my period and it was negative you I waited 2 days then took another one. there were 2 lines but the positive line was very light. I waited a couple more days then tested again and it was indeed positive.. I used tests from Wal-mart. Not the expensive ones. Good luck. I hope you get a great Mother's Day gift.

I don't think there is anything wrong with wanting to take a test early out of excitement... however, tests aren't exactly the cheapest either. I personally was given a whole baggie of test strips from a friend who was doing IVF. She wasn't needing them anymore and they are very effective and seemingly more sensitive than the store bought tests because they are specifically made for early detection when going through IVF. I actually did my test about a week+ early from when my period was to come (purely for fun and curiosity because I had never used one before), lo and behold! i was pregnant! And the lines were very dark, you couldn't mistake it! You can get them from www.saveontests.com and the instructions on how to use them are online. Good luck and have fun!!

I took mine about a week before period was due and it came out negative.. even though I knew I was prego cause of all the symptoms. I just took the second one the next day after expected period and it came out positive. I would probably take the test on Mothers day incase it comes out positive.. that would be a great gift. =) Just know that it could come out negative and I wouldnt get my hopes up. Good luck and take care.

I found out I was pregnant about 16 DPO..Which was 2 days before my missed period was due,but I also ovulated early that cycle..so like I said it was 16 dpo..You can take one at 11 dpo,but I wouldn't really expect the result to necassarily be accurate...I would wait until closer to when your period is due...(well,no I actually probably wouldn't,but it's going to be more accurate :)...)
I bought a bunch of pregnancy test strips off EBAY I was testing so much!!
Good luck and baby dust!

I do not really find the tests for before your period are really affective. So Expect a negative even though you may really bepregnant. also the fancy tests are such a money grabber, do not waste your resources on them the dollar store tests will work the same if you are pregnant. I Like the regular first response they are a pretty good price here but do not bother with the digital...

Nothing wrong with wanting to take the test. That would be great if you found out on mothers day. As long as you are prepared for either result. I took many different brands of tests...if you're pregnant, it will tell regardless of how much you spend. Good luck and hope it says "BABY" :)

I think your just setting yourself up for disappointment to be honest. The tests are pretty inacurate before you miss your period - even the ones that say early detection. The other problem can be that they may detect a chemical pregnancy and that just leads to even greater disappointment when you do get your period. Try to wait for another week and enjoy the feeling that you may be pregnant, if you get your period you wont need to test.

i did that quite a bit, thinking i might be prego, took some tests but they were negative..so the next time i thought that, i just waited to see if my period was late so i wouldnt get too disapointed if you know what i mean..and when that next time happened,my period was late and i was prego! good luck to you!!as for brands, no particular one, i got the best deals on the packs that have 2-3 tests in them
