I am 27 weeks and we are moving tomorrow. We couldn`t find anyone to help us so it is ending up that my boyfriend is going to have to do all the work himself. I feel HORRIBLE about this and know that I am gonna cave and do more than I should. When I over do it I end up cramping and getting braxton hicks but I know I am going to feel guilty and have to help. My question is, does anyone have any suggestions of how I can know its too much before its too much and I end up hurting me or the baby? Does anyone have any tips of things to look out for so that I know I am starting to over do it and can stop before too much has been done?

I'm sure your boyfriend will be more understanding than you think...or at least he should be. I agree that you should make sure to drink a lot of water to keep your body hydrated. Also, make sure not to lift anything over 25 lbs as you could easily pull a muscle. A gallon of water is 8 lbs, so anything over the weight of 3 gallons should be left for your boyfriend. I'm really sorry you couldn't find anyone to help you. That's got to be tough!

I moved during my last pregnancy. You need to keep hydrated. Don't pick up heavy things. Take a lot of breaks. If you start getting even the least bit tired, take a break or quit. You will have to drink more than usual because you can get dehydrated and aver heated a lot quicker than when your not preggers. It is very hard to not over do it. Pay attention to your body. Stop when you feel the littlest things. Remember, it is not just you you are thinking about.

well, make sure you are drinking enough fluids as that will help with BH. Take breaks inbetween. Figure out what is most important for you to do and what you can pass on to someone else. if you can, try doing things like sorting or putting in boxes/ takiing out of boxes while sitting. Its hard to tell when its too much b/c the signs are so subtle. just try your hardest to stay hydrated and take breaks .good luck

we too had moved nearing the last couple mo of my pregnancy, and you just have to be careful to not lift anything heavy, and if you feel it, take a break, just dont overdue it..i kept doing all i could, some days making trips alone to the house just bringing in small things..i actually got more wore out from the walking back and forth than anything..then after my son was born and was 2 mo old, we moved again! so far were not going anywhere..lol good luck and take it easy

I moved just a couple weeks ago, and was in the same boat pretty much. He just had help with the big furniture. What I did was moved lighter boxes and unpacked everything. When I started to feel uncomfortable, I took 10-15 minute break, maybe longer if I was really uncomfortable. While I was unpacking I sat on a stool as much as possible. Just be careful and listen to your body, it will tell you when it's had enough.

You know that if you do all the packing and move all the lighter stuff yourself, a moving company is actually very inexpensive. I packed everything and had a company move ALL of my stuff and it cost me $600. That was at 2000sq foot house with 4 bedrooms and an office. Plus all the junk in the basement. Your health is worth more than the money. As an added bonus, all your stuff is insured against damage.

I would say don't lift anything heavier then the everyday stuff you move before your pregnancy, drink plenty of fluids throughout this time and rest as much as you can inbetween. I also move in 2-3 weeks and same thing, no one to help so I am sure I will be in the same boat as you PLUS I have two kids to maintain in the mix. best of luck and hope you get settled in nice and quick... Enjoy your new home and don't over work your self!

I also moved when I was about 27 weeks. I know it's hard to sit back and watch him do all the work, but you CAN'T lift anything heavy. I carried a few boxes and unpacked, but that's it. If you find yourself getting tired or having contractions, you need to stop and rest ! You don't want to hurt that little baby :) Good luck with your move :)

I would say don't help. Get friends, family or anyone who would be willing to help. Your boyfriend and anyone else half decent should tell you not to help and should be doing it for you. I moved house when I was about half way through my pregnancy. It was tiring but I did it. I had to lift and carry furniture and stuff, as well as the usual packing and unpacking etc. If you do help, just don't do any heaving lifting. You probably will, but keep in mind that all of your ligaments etc are softer and more prone to injury. The baby should be fine, but it will be you that suffers. Pay close attention to how your body feels and don't be afraid to stop and say that you can't do anymore. Look after yourself...

u proberly won't end up hurting your baby as its well protcted in your belly, i would just move the light stuff or u could end up doing your back in moving heavy things. i would also take quite a few breaks and drink loads of water.

For Chinese saying, pregnant women should not move house, because this will affect the baby, and also you should not do any heavy workload, this may harm you and your baby. Ask your boyfriend and friends to do it for you, I am sure they will understand.

Use proper body mechanics, lift with your legs and try not to bend at the waist. I would also suggest after every trip, to or from loading something to sit for at least 5 minutes and drink LOTS of water. If you start getting sore at all, it is time to stop or take a big break. good Luck!
