K I`m almost 30 weeks pregnant and I`ve been reading that babies at this point should be responding to the outside environment, i.e. loud noises, etc. I am not often around loud noises or anything, but when I am, for example, when a big dog barks right beside me or something like that, the baby doesn`t move at all. She also doesn`t respond when I poke her. Should I be worried or is this normal?

Hi there, my advice to you is if you are looking for movement from your baby and have not felt it in awhile, then a sure way to make him/her respond is to drink some OJ or any juice that is cold.... this does 2 things: makes it react once the juice goes down and in addition the sugar content that is absorbed makes it move about, worked for me everytime with my son and will be trying it again with this pregnancy.

My baby does not respond to loud noises either. Even when I poke she doesn't budge. I look at it like this, I think that the baby is going to move when she/he wants to move. This is my 3rd child and I have never kept count of a kick chart because my doctors and midwives never said to. And they are all healthy and came out just fine. So as long as your baby is moving, then I don't think there is anything to worry about.

that stuff worries me as well. i think its just that in our bellies the baby hears all the swooshing and blood moving and outside sounds are so far to them that they are drowned out. as for poking, ur little one may just be sleeping or is stuborn like mine and wants to be left alone lol just kidding.im sure everything is fine

My little guy does not respond much to poking and prodding either. If and when he does respond, 99% of the time he will only do it for his daddy! I haven't had any experience with loud noise yet, so I am not sure about that.

Don't worry about it too much. The only time my baby responded to loud noises was when they were REALLY loud. Like in a movie theatre when gunshots were going off. Or one time we were at a comedy show and right beside the speaker and as soon as the dude spoke I felt her jump. But there were other times like at a REALLY LOUD CLUB for my company christmas party and she didn't move all night, not until it was quiet and we were at home

It takes some longer than others. My baby started responding before I was 7 months. But everyone is different.

I don't really think that you have anything to worry about, my baby didn't either and I was around barking dogs all the time. And the only time that she responded to me poking her is when she had something sticking out and I would push it back in, she would either keep it in or push it back out.
