Ok, so i went to the dr today. he did everything yall talked ab including listened for the babys heartbeat. we couldnt hear it. keeping in mind what yall said it may be a little too early, and the dr saying the same. i didnt exactly `freak` out. but im still a little worried. every second we spent listening for it, all that kept running thru my mind is cmon baby let me hear that heart beat. but no such luck. i go back next week to try again. does it normally take some longer then 9 wks? an whats the farthest along youve known of someone being til they were able to hear their babys heart beat? thx for everyones reply!

skittles0607 - 153 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Normally they can't hear the heartbeat till around 10 weeks maybe even to your 12 week. It all depends on how your little one is positioned. Good Luck!

pregnantegyptian - 153 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Well around that time i was able to hear mine but not everyone can...maybe your baby was in some kind of weird position...Plus your baby is very small sometimes you won't be able to hear anything until around the 12th week.

onj - 154 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Don't be worried. It can take a long time to hear that heartbeat. Some people are lucky and hear it right away... others just have to be patient... you'll hear it, don't worry...

Brandi J. - 154 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My doctor doesn't even try to listen for the baby's heart beat until week 12, b/c the chance of hearing it before it less likely. Even then though he always reminds me that the baby is still very small and hard to catch, so not to worry if he is not able to find the baby's heartbeat at that visit.

denee85 - 155 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I heard my first baby's heartbeat at 13 weeks and this one we heard right at 10 weeks..But sometimes it can take as long as up to week 14..then they would do an ultrasound.

monica9 - 155 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) they say the normal to hear the beat of the doppler that they use is around 12 weeks. If you really are worried just say you want an ultrasound b/c you had some slight bleeding. I know its a lie but if it will ease your mind then you are better off. You will hear it off the u/s. good luck

UKMama - 155 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) 16 weeks is certainly a possiblity. But by 12 weeks with a good condition Doppler and a midwife or doc that isn't in a hurry, is about when you would confidently expect to start hearing it. But, it really can be as late as 16 weeks.

baby.bray - 155 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I was 16 weeks before my midwife even attempted to hear a heartbeat sweetie x

Mommyof2boys - 155 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) its all different for everyone, for my first pregnancy I was like 14 weeks before we heard anything and my second I was around 9 weeks.

Baby3OnWay - 155 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I was 12 weeks before I heard anything and no matter what your going to get a little freaked until the day you hear it, and then the days between there on... I'm on number 3 and still stress a bit between apointments HABG IN THERE!!

KarenVG - 155 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Glad you had a good doctors appointment. I didn't hear my baby untilabout 12 weeks, and my Doctor wouldn't try before then. So I think you should be prepared not to hear it next week too. If the Doctor is waiting a week it must be a common thing so if all the other pregnancy teats and stuff are going well you shouldn't worry. Did he say when you would get an ultrasound? That will be the most reasurring thing for you. You should hear the heartbeat then too. Let us know if you hear it next week, will be thinking of you.

nannersmama - 155 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Hi! With my first child, we didn't hear the heartbeat until 20 wks, even with internal sono. But that was also because I had a retrograde uterus. This time around, I heard the hb at 7 wks. Good Luck!

Rebekahs-mama - 155 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I'm shocked the doc didn't do a sono to see the heartbeat. Mine did one right away just to make sure things were ok. But I'm not really sure which week I was in at that point...might have been 10? That said, it is still early, so try not to freak too much! I'll be praying things will go well for you. Keep us all updated!!!

agonzales - 155 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Well we didnt hear mine in the beginning either so he did ultrasounds for me but the first time I heard it in office was at 16 wks. Before that I went at 12 wks 6 days and we couldnt hear it then either.

clackkit - 155 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My dr didnt try and find my babys heart beat until i was around 18 weeks because they are so small before hand that the heart beat can be hard to detect. Dont worry. Do you have an ultrasound coming up soon x

BoyStruckX2 - 155 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I didnt hear my babies heartbeat until 11-13 weeks both times girl :)

JennSever - 155 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) hard one - if the dr didn't get worried about it then neither should you. this is a tricky time. the baby could be facing any direction therefore making it difficult to hear the heartbeat at all. sit tight (if you can) and wait until next week. please don't worry about what you can't control. hugs/...

Melanie07 - 155 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) It is more common to wait till 12 weeks.

asutori - 155 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My doctor told me that they usually can't hear anything with their little doppler until about Weeks 10 to 12 (and I was there at week 9 as well), so it could also be the quality and age of the tool they have as well. I wouldn't worry too much yet and since you are going next week again, I'm sure you will have a better chance. Good luck!

LISAFRMCROYDON - 155 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) sometimes it does take a while , baby may be snuggled up somewhere in such a position the hearbeat may not be able to detect is as babys still lil right now ... try and not worry too much .. all i can suggest is rebook and go back in a week maybe ???
