Does anyone have any other suggestions for headaches than the usual? I got headaches and migraines prior to pregnancy and they are not going away. I was Rx`d Tylenol 3 from my obgyn but they aren`t very effective. Regular Tylenol doesn`t usually work either. I try drinking lots of water and using cold packs when I headaches. They are usually tension headaches in the back of my head and neck. I also have a lot of problems with my jaw and grinding my teeth and I know that has something to do with it (bite splints don`t help). Any other suggestions???? Thanks.

dvsrunt - 58 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I too had migraines before my pregnancy...Mine usually get better during but I had some tought ones in the early weeks. My OB gave me Fiocet (sp)and it works better then anything else I have tried. Give them a call and ask about it. It has been a life saver. Hope this helps!

Baby3OnWay - 58 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) HEAD ON!!! and speak with your dentist and doctor about the teeth as grinding may be telling you about another problem!

holly28 - 58 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Acupuncture works for me.

mattie4 - 58 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i have used accupuncture for my migraines...it works wonders for me :)

Mommyof2boys - 59 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Try to take the tylenol like right when you start to feel a headahce coming on, some times we wait until its a fullblown bad achy ordeal and then take the meds and its too late. I take tylenol and then a warm bath and I lay down in a dark quiet room.

klasnaya - 59 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) This might not help completly but taking a zink supplement can help. Headackes have been linked to zink defeciancy. Thats what helped me. I didnt take any tylenol cuz it didnt help at all! Good Luck!

mrsbekki - 59 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) So I have had a problem with migraines for about 8 years. Had them so bad they were sure I had a brain tumor. And actually had my first migraine last night will pregnant. For about a year now I have been off my migraine meds and ONLY drink gatorade for my headache and it works!!!! I drink about 20 oz. and take a nap. and it helps SOOO much. Something in the drink helps reduce blood flow. Far better than taking all the meds. Also, you say you have jaw and grinding problems...I went to the Dentist and they made me a mouth piece that is clear and small that fits on the bottom of your teeth (you only wear at night). It takes the pressure of your jaw from grinding. And Jaw clenching and Grinding has been proven to cause migraines and neck pains. With the mouth pieces i have had ONE migraine since November (odd for me being I at least would get two a month) I know that Insurance does help pay for it for the most part but they really are only about $120 if they don't. Sorry so long...Hope I helped. I know both the Gatorade and the mouth piece have been such a blessing for me and these darn migraines.

Its-Chelle - 59 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i have a history of migraines, got worse every pregnancy..used tylenol 3 before didnt seem to help much..mine too were in my neck, i had to change back and forth with 1 or 2 pillows, occasionally sleeping on the floor..i believe my doc prescribed norco, its been so long im not sure, but she said they were mild and not harmful while pregnant.. i took them when absolutely needed, but she said its better to nip the headaches in the bud when you first get them..hope your headaches go away, i know how awful they can be..

JennSever - 60 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i was prescribed fioricet - it is a class c narcotic, but its the only thing that would help. if used sparingly, you should be find. (tylenol 3 did NOTHING for me)

wildberry - 60 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i have had migraines for as long as i can remember when i was preggers i had to take magnesium for my legs and i learned that it's also good for headaches and migraines so i have continued to take 500mg a day and this month i have only had three headaches i used to have one daily so i'm happy i would ask your doc how much you can take good luck hon

asutori - 60 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I too have tension headaches as I work in IT and am at the computer non-stop... I've had to find other methods of relaxation to take the tension down a notch without drugs such as with yoga, meditation, and yoga. It actually truly helps me a lot, but it depends on how into it you are as well. I've had to slowly train myself not to tense my shoulders and neck when I'm thinking or concentrating (as weird as that sounds). In terms of the jaw problems you have though, my husband had TMJ (temporomandibular joint disorder) for a really long time and had tried to use splints, he was getting headaches, grinding his teeth and couldn't even really open his mouth or chew or hard food like apples etc. It turns out that he really needed to get his wisdom teeth pulled even though all his dentists said that he had room for them. Since then he has been healing but still has pain here and there when he is tense or stressed. Have you asked your doctor about TMJ or have they mentioned it to you? Otherwise, in terms of drugs that could help, I really have no suggestions and the best person to listen to for that would be your doctor.

leahs - 60 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I had the same issues, I have arthritis in my jaw and it's eroded the condoyl (sp)bone down to nothing, it creates intense headaches. I always found putting a few dabs of tea-tree oil on my forehead helped if I did it quick enough, HOWEVER I heard someone say that you should not use that while pregnant so I would check with your dr first. Unfortunately for me the only things I could take that worked are unsafe while pregnant :( Hope you feel better soon.
