I am 27 weeks and I went to the doctor on friday he told me that I need to start keep track of the babies movements and that she should kick at least 10 times in one hour... well she doesnt!!! Sometimes her movements move my whole belly and other times its just little taps. Should I be worried about it??? I thought that at 27 babies are still really little to have such a pattern. Thanks for all your input. : )

Baby3OnWay - 74 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I think what you are feeling is fine... the babies do have rest periods and I have never spent time watching the clock and waiting for movement. There may be times your not feeling a kick or a movement either cause its a light one or because your too occupied with house work or work. I think as long as you are feeling movement in there and feel confident that babys active enough that should be fine. Sounds fine to me !

athome - 74 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Um I think thats a bit absurd when you think about it. When is she supposed to sleep ?? Some doctors have their heads up their rear ends. I keep a kick chart for my own peace of mind but i just put a mark on it hourly when i feel a movement just to make sure it is fairly regular. ie 9am-10am 10am-11am etc then I finish at 10pm and re start at8am and just have a column for "overnight". When I feel a movement in that hour I colour in that hour. By the end of the day I have usually shaded in about 9 of the 14 hours and one mark for overnight if i felt movement at some stage. I find this quite adequate and it gives me an idea of babys routine, when bub generally sleeps etc so far it has been their pattern once born as well. The movement will slow down closer to bubs arrival simply because the run out of room so that's normal. You just need to know whats normal for your bub so keep a chart anyway you like and just keep on aya on whats normal movement. Some days will be a bit more, some a bit less just like the rest of us.

pageantmommie - 74 days ago Thank you so much ladies for all your input.... that crazy doctor has me freakin out. I feel much better hearing from all of you. I kinda of get the feeling that she is just a really mellow little one and doesnt move around a whole lot. Thanks again!!! : )

mamis1st - 74 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I wouldn't worry about it...all the kick counts did was freak me out and sent me to Labor and Delivery TWICE because I thought he wasn't moving like he should be. He was fine throughout the whole pregnancy, he was just a calm baby. Born happy and healthy!! =) Don't stress yourself too much...

femi - 74 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i was told you start counting at 28 weeks. also, your baby may be most active when you're asleep and maybe the movements aren't strong enough to wake you up. my husband works nights and touches my belly when he gets home; he has noticed movement at 3 and 4am, while i'm asleep. you could also try to check movement after a meal and / or cold beverage, sweet stuff ... anything that might get him/her going.

professorpreggers - 74 days ago Rating: 5 (1 votes) Don't be worried. My Dr insists that kick counts are just a way to get moms really scared. She said some babies never move regularly or in a pattern and that its better to trust your instincts rather than making yourself crazy over kick counts. She says every mom knows in their gut when their baby is ok or not, and she told me to trust that, rather than making myself so worried over kick counts. Your baby is still very little to have a pattern and she may never have one either. Don't worry.

Debra - 75 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My midwife tole me that counting kick patterns is a rediculous expectation and to know that baby will often sleep at this point for hours at a time. SOme days are sleepy days and some days are awake days. If you drink something cold and dont' feel movement, or dont' feel baby for a whole day then its time to be concerned. Otherwise don't worry about it. ALso, if you have a doctor who is making you worry unnecessarily, then you may want to get yourself a doula for your birth. agonzales - 75 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I would think thats too early for some to have a pattern. Ive read some ladies say they are bearly starting to feel their baby at that time on this site. I wouldnt really be concerned if you at least feel her move a few times a day. But if you are concerned maybe you should speak with the doctor. You could also try what 2xmom said.

2xmom - 75 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Seems like I didn't have to start kick counts till about week 30, probably many variations among doctors. If you become concerned, lay on your left side, let your body relax. You should begin to feel movement, as the baby gets the best blood flow from you in that position. Keep yourselft well hydrated. Always talk to your doctor if you feel you've waited too long to feel the baby move, or if you're worried. Best Wishes!
