Okay... so I went to the dr yesterday & am just over 38 weeks now. She said I was not dilated but 50% effaced. Then, last night, there was blood & stringy things coming out of me. Was this the `bloody show` that I`ve been reading about or is this because the dr did an internal exam? ...or... did the internal exam move things along a little bit for me???

Debra - 86 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) you will bleed a bit from an exam if they were a bit rough, it can also be the bloody show too. Start walking and have sex and enjoy the last couple weeks as a couple. One of my friends recommended going out for dinner and that was a great experience- our last days of just us!

jessicadarling - 86 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) You can bleed from getting an internal but if it is stringy it makes me think that it may be part of your plug which means labour could start very soon. With me the doctor checked me and in doing so actually removed some of my plug. Not purposefully. But she said that it was because me cervix was completely soft and thats why. So perhaps because your cervix is softening you are now starting to lose your plug

slg3233 - 86 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) With my 1st, I was about 38 weeks myself and the doctor did an internal exam on me and I didn't have blood until later on that night. It wasn't bad, just a little here and a little there. And the next morning when I woke up, the same thing was going on. And so I called the dontors office and told them and they told me to come in about 1:30pm. And so I did and when I went in my doctor did another internal exam on me and found out that the baby's head was low which meant that I was ready to go and have her. So I had to go over to the hospital and get signed in and all and I had my baby girl that night at 7:27pm. So it could be that for you or it could be that since you are farther along that the internal exam just caused the bloody show because that is possible too.

candace3 - 86 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) It could be both. When I went in to get checked at 39 weeks for my last one, I wasn't even dialated...then went to the hospital 6 hours later to be induced and was dialated to a 4 and didn't even know it..Just thought I was having braxton hicks all day. So, checking you could have jump started it...good luck.

christina1984 - 86 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) if it helps thats what i saw b4 i had my daughter but i was only an hour away from pushing at that point (and rushing to the hospital)
