does anyone have any advice for someone with an iud and 3 negative pregnancy tests who is over a week late. I went to the Emergency room for cramping and back pain and the doctor says im not pregnant but come back in a week if my cycle doesn`t start so they can do a pelvic exam. i know it is possible to get pregnant with an IUD. Has this happened to anyone?How late were you when you got a positive result?

I had an IUD and my periods stopped coming...3 years later, I had to have it surgically removed. It was also causing me pain like you described. Good luck to you!

Debra - 85 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Did they check you for infection? Cramping and back pain with an IUD can mean that you have an infection or even ectopic pregnancy. Ectopic pregnancies can occur more frequently with IUD's and also occur 1 in 100 pregnancies. I would go back to the ER for a blood test pronto- especially if you still have symptoms of pain and are not getting better with rest. Don't take ibuprofen either until you know for sure you aren't pregnant.

Baby3OnWay - 85 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I never got pregnant with an IUD, but I did get pregnant while I was on the depo shot, and second pregnancy while I was on the patch. With the first I knew by weeks 6 and test came back positive BUT with the second I still got my period and never got a positive until I was about 8 weeks. When you got your test was it a urine test?? Maybe you should ask to have a blood test cause thats the best way to find out FOR SURE so early...even when your urine gives you a negative! Best of Luck
