Glucose Test

Has anyone else experienced feeling a little `drugged` after drinking the glucola? About 5 minutes after I drank it and went into the room to wait out the hour I got really groggy and fell asleep. I even had to wait 20 minutes after the blood test to drive and when I got home I slept the rest of the day.

Mommyof2boys - 69 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) They make you fast before the test no food or drink after midnight the night before, when you take that glucose drink it messes with your blood sugar, making it high or low can cause you to feel drugged, sleepy or hyper.

Baby3OnWay - 70 days ago Rating: 5 (1 votes) They tell us here that we shouldn't drive after the test! I actually ended up taking a bus home and thought i wasn't going to make it the first time... I felt so drunk! I was so sleepy and yucky feeling. Then I found out after that your not suppose to eat a full meal or drink caffine before the test. So with my second I didn't do any of that and it was a lot better... Still scares me though and I am dreading getting it done with this one!

kater - 71 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i was told by the pathology nurse the drink only had as much sugar as half a glass of coke, so if you feel dizzy after that amount of sugar, it may be time to change your diet in general. too much sugar in your body can definitely make you feel sick, did you pass the test?

CArmione - 71 days ago Rating: 2 (1 votes) I felt a little off when I went for the 3 hour glucose test. vision got a little fuzzy and I just felt out of whack. I did happen to run into my ob while I was up there and asked her it was normal. She said perfectly normal- when everything was said and done to eat a snack and drink plenty of water to counter the "drink"

brittany1621 - 71 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I actually was sick for a few days after I drank it. I failed the one hour by one point and had to do the three hour. As soon as I drank the crap for the three hour (double the one hour) I knew it was only a matter of time before I threw it up and sure enough I did. It didn't help that for the 3 hour you have to fast. I spent the rest of the day sleeping in bed (ive napped maybe 2 times since I have been pregnant). But everyone experiences it differently, mine truly stank.

mattie4 - 71 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) high lvls of blood sugar can make you feel really sleepy...total sugar crash. When i drank mine...it made me want to puke. The first hour was the worst.
