I went today for my ultrasound and I`m havin a boy! But he has CPC. The doc said it was very common but we are going to get a level 2 ultrasound next thursday. And my question is does any of you kno nething about this and is it really that common and what does it mean for him?

professorpreggers - 144 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) well--they can be soft markers for something like trisomy 18 but that is the rare instance and there are other far less scary chromosomal abnormailites that they could be indicators for (I don't wantsoonmamax4 to scare you). Drs have actually begun to consider cpcs a normal part of fetal development (even if it's something they can't really explain) since they see them so often--more people's babies probaly have them then they realize, it just depends when scans are done. Like I said, If I had waited until 21 weeks to have my anatomy scan, they never would have found anything at all. Maybe you're not worried at all--and you don't need to be, but if you are, I didn't want the person's comments below to freak you out.

soonmamax4 - 145 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) it doesnt mean much, the cysts on their own cant harm your baby, even if they dont go away, and 75% of the timethey do... it just means they want to do a more thourough u/s of the rest of the body...the cpcs are whats called a soft marker for trisomy 18...so your doc is sending you for the u/s to rule it out...
