can you breast feed and use formula at the same time? If so, how does that work out?

jaydsmom - 95 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I breastfed and used formula. But, it all depends on your baby. Mine could care less if she had the breast or bottle. There was no nipple confusion. My friend who had a baby at the same time had a problem going back to the breast because her baby found it easier to use the bottle... you will just have to see how your baby does.

moms the word - 95 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Lots of moms do it. AS long as you transition the baby onto the formula gradually, you should be able to avoid tummy trouble with your little one. Nipple selection for the bottles is pretty tough though. You'll have to try out a few to find one that he/she will take. I will warn you though, some breastfed babies will not take any artificial nipple at all, ever. All four of my sisters babies were like that. I suggest pumping some of your milk early on and putting it in a bottle to get him/her used to an artificial nipple as well as the breast. Good Luck!

jewel 1 - 96 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Well from seeing this happen with my mom it is possible because she did it with both of my lil sisters. I am pregnant now and I plan to do it as well. Being that my mom worked she breast fed at night and pumped at work but bottle fed during the day at the sitter so the baby was use to everything. But like JennSever said be careful with the nipple because there was a issue with that with my lil sisters so my mom bought the nipples that was like the breast

Its-Chelle - 96 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i had trouble nursing on one breast, so i had to nurse on one, pump, and bottle feed the milk and formula as well.sometimes he was just so hungry that if i didnt hve enough milk to supply him, he then got formula..

JennSever - 96 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) sure you can, but its easier for the baby to suck a bottle nipple than a breast nipple - so watch out for nipple confusion. also, if the baby starts to prefer the bottle then you can just pump your milk. your milk consumption might slow down if you substitute too much w/ formula so just be aware of that as well. my sil nursed at night and gave the baby formula during the day..it worked out fine
