I agree with most everyone here. The average weight gain is that much because they can account for it in water, uterus, average baby size, boobs ect. I was 19 and 120lbs. with my girl and I went up to 176+ by the time I was full term. I lost most of it before 6 months had passed but it really depends on you and what is right for your body. They call it an average because some women don't gain that much at all. My friend for example has only gained about 11-13lbs and she is expected to go early and is already 32+ weeks. I've gain that much this time already and I'm only 20 weeks Most of it's been in the past 4 weeks! I'm hoping to nurse for longer after I have him and loose more quickly. It helped with my daughter and I only nursed for 4 months. Don't worry to much as long as you are healthy and happy and your weight isn't impacting your health try not to worry. Try to know what and how much you take in and note that if it's not the best of stuff you should get more of the fruits and veg. instead. Good luck and it will be worth it in the end anyway.

I found that after 32 weeks I barely gained any weight- maybe a pound total. I gained a total of 31 lbs, but started at 5feet 4 inches and 158 lbs, a little overweight for my height. If you are thinner, I've noted that women need to gain more weight to get up to a healthy pregnancy weight. As long as most of the weight you are gaining is in your abdomen and not arms/face/legs etc, then know that you will probably loose it easily enough, especially if you are breastfeeding after. I also wouldn't worry unless you are gaining weight b/c you are eating too much junk food/ fast food. If you are eating lots of fresh fruit/veggies and getting your dairy- cheese and ice cream count as dairy servings! then you are fine. COme by my VIP site for tips on labor, packing, baby care, breastfeeding and more! I've added stuff to help women have an easier time than i had! Make sure you are getting enough calcium in your diet too! I had 4 new cavities after pregnancy d/t the baby taking so much out of me!

Everyone is different. With my first child I gained 28lbs, second child I gained 19lbs and I lost the weight with each of them. But picked it back up and now Im 23wks pregnant and I gained 7lbs so far. I hope I lose it all plus more after this baby.

I am 33 weeks, and have gained around 26lbs so far, and my doctor wants me to increase my calories and gain more. It all depends on you and your body.

It depends on how much you weighed before pregnancy, what you are eating and how much, how active you are, and how large your baby is. Some women eat whatever they want whenever they want it and think it is ok since they are pregnant. My advice is eat healthy and stay active and get back in the gym once you have recovered from birth and you should be back to your old self again in no time. I would not be worried about it unless your doc is. Best Wishes.

the most ive heard of women gaining is ab 60 lbs. but from the answer above mine, possibly 80. lol. but i think it really depends on the size of your baby an your eating an exercising habits....
