Is there anybody out there with an anterior placenta that can commiserate with me re how little fetal movement they feel? I`ve been a nervous wreck for most of this pregnancy and now at 25 weeks when I should finally be feeling him, I get very few discernable kicks--more like muffled hiccups. It`s already cost me one trip to the hospital as I didn`t know I had an anterior placenta. I`d just like to know if other women are feeling the disappointment I am over so little perceived movement while all the other mommies at this stage seem to having a hoot of a time with their kicking babies.

i am in the same boat as you and at 28 weeks i'm really feeling some major movements happening - even seeing them from the outside. i talked to my doctor about it when i was around 25 weeks and he said if i didn't feel anything by now to let him know as this is the time to do fetal kick counts - then he'd do some more digging into what was happening. i felt VERY little movement up until about 26.5 weeks. then things really started to pick up.

I too have an anterior placenta and didn't feel 'good' kicks until about 28-30 weeks. It made me worry when people at 16 weeks were like wow my baby kicked me all night long! I felt like holy crap there's something wrong with me. My doctor told me not to worry about it and he didn't even ask his patients to count kicks until 28 weeks. Don't worry you will feel some swift kicks soon enough!

yes i know exactly what this is like, its sooo frustrating!! i also find its harder for the doc to find the heartbeat with the doppler, and its fuzzy sometimes at first, because the placenta is in the way.

As long as you are feeling him a little bit, thats a good thing. Believe me, if you don't have a wee one's legs digging into your rib cage, count yourself as lucky- it hurts!! Enjoy the other movements- thats the best part anyway! It should also get stronger now that you are moving toward the third trimester- even if you have an anterior laying placenta. Yep same boat here. I can feel the peripheral movements but nothing in the middle. i have spoken to other mums about it and apparently the ovements will become more obvious after about 27 weeks as you tummy gets bigger and the placenta naturally moves up. HTH.
