Maybe it's an obvious question and I don’t mean to be insulting, but I was going to ask the same thing as xidja. I don't have regular cycles at all and I also don't produce enough cervical mucus at ovulation, which is needed to move the sperm up to the cervix, but by educating myself and I mean really educating myself, I learned how to chart in detail--I used natural remedies rather than clomid and I used preseed in place of my own CM. Even though my periods haven’t been regular, I checked my cervix daily (not so fun) so I knew the day it was highest, open and most fertile. Maybe you've already done all this but it's not unusual for it to take a year or so to get pregnant. Read "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler, before you rush to use artificial methods. You are really young; it might just be a matter of educating yourself about your body in more detail. This is the website the sells the herb complexes to regulate cycles, produce more CM etc. http://www.tryingtoconceive.com/hfhworks.htm

Do you keep track of your cycles? Do you know how long they are? Have you been trying to conceive around the time when you think you ovulate? If you want you can send me your start dates and I can help you figure it out. My husband and I used no form of birth control for probably 3 years and it wasn't until his sister helped me figure out the length of my cycle and the best time to do it. She told us the week to do it and we got pregnant that same month! My periods were also irregular and very long, but it was all timing for us.

Well , have you being keeping up to date with your doc? They can help figure out what's up if you are concerned about things. Get some hormone testing done and see if it's your thyroid causing things to be irregular I had the same trouble if all else fails get your partner tested. If you need a bit more detail just write me and I'll explain a bit more with what happened to me after BC pills. Good luck hope you're lucky soon!

Most docs say to give it a year and then come asking for a workup. Except after age 35, then they say 3-6 mos, b/c they want you to get cracking. If you try with your OB-GYN and aren't 100% confident in his/her approach, go see a reproductive endocrinologist, who will have a more thorough and organized approach, as well as the most current research to back up a plan of care.

it took us over 2 years to conceive. we went through fertility, months of clomid, 3 insemmenations, and 1 invitro, none of which worked. we decided to stop fertility, put our 100% faith in God and trust that he would get us pregnant. we accepted that it wouldnt be on our timing but on his and 3 months later we conceived naturally after drs saying i had old eggs and wont be able to get preg without help. so anything is possible and know you will get pregnant eventually. if you want you should go get checked out to rule anything out. good luck and you are in my prayers!! i know how you feel
