I'm on Micronor- a progesterone pill thats' safe to take while BF. It does not affect my milk. I've been on it for 6 months now, my baby is nearly 7 months. I haven't started my period yet either. No weird side effects. Depo provera shot is progesterone only too, but it takes calcium out of your bones. Its not recommended any more for women who are BF as they are already at risk for calcium loss. My doctor talked about Mirena, but i didn't like the idea of an IUD. I like the control i have with the pill, even if i have to take it every day and at the same time for it to be most effective. Good luck with your choice!

OH yes this was a good product for me untill the pain hit on my left side that was so bad I would want to die. I ended up with a uti for a hole month and went to the hospital three different times and by the third time the Dr. said I had a pelvic infection that had given me a UTI so I had to take it out. Then I got on the pill and I am 21 weeks pregnant. So good luck I would due more research on what you want to take.

I have to say... I'm against all hormonal birth control for myself. Simply because I gained 50lbs on Depo. and 10lbs on Nuvaring. however, I'd suggest Nuvaring simply because its easy to use, and has VERY FEW side effects. it's also low dose. Whatever you do DON"T get Depo shot. it stinks and causes alot of bad side effects. Some women don't get they're period for 6 or more months after getting OFF the shot.

I just got the Mirena about 5 months ago, aside from being slightly uncomfortable while it was put in I love it. I bled very lightly for a day after, I had what I think was my period a month after and haven't had anything since. From the info I was given it is even more reliable form of contraception than having a tubal (Mirena 99.9%,Tubal 99.5%)to know if you will experience any side-effects etc you will just have to try it and see, many women said if you can get past the first 3 months you'll be very happy with it.

Ive never had the mirena but from what I hear its mostly not good. My sister had it and she ended up taking it out because it cause her really bad cramps and she said when her and hubby had sex he could feel it. She had to go back to doc to fix it a couple of times and it was a hassle for her so she just took it out. I also heard it makes you bleed for a long time. Have you tried researching it? I think the only kind of birth control I would use it the pill lol. I tried depo and it just made me gain a whole bunch of weight. I hope I helped at least a little. =)
