Hi I am 13 weeks and 2 days.I have been feeling short of breath all day kinda hard to catch my breath. Also for the past month or so my heart feels like it flutters here and there. Is this a normal pregnancy thing?thanks for your help!

babydoll24 - 73 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i've been feeling the same way for a few weeks now. I'm 17 weeks. I lose my breath from just walking at a normal pace, and going up or down stairs definately don't help

Debra - 74 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I started getting short of breath around 13-15 weeks as well. That is normal as your diaphragm gets pushed up out of the way of your uterus and will just get worse. Your lung expansion is less than if you were not pregnant and you don't get as much oxygen into your system. As for the heart flutters- this can be normal as your blood volume increases. Its also normal after you drink any caffeine as your heart will throw PAC's Premature Atrial Contractions- a little extra beat in before your real heart beat. HOWEVER!! If the flutter and the shortness of breath are occuring at the same time, it could be another type of heart rhythm and you should tell your OB about it- not us.

AmBear - 74 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) sounds like heart palpatations. It can be caused from the increase in blood volume or being anemic. I would just talk with you OB about it.

misty08 - 74 days ago yes I have been taking prenatel since i was 2 weeks along

flutterbylovebump - 74 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Check with you'r Doc, u might be a bit anaemic. Are u taking you'r pre-natal vitamins?

HaleyD - 74 days ago Rating: 5 (1 votes) I felt the same way early in pregnancy. Really jittery....like I had way to much caffeine. It may be from the increase of blood floe, etc. I am 16 weeks now and back to normal.

misty08 - 74 days ago is it ok to wait I have a appt. next week.thanks

moms the word - 74 days ago Rating: 5 (1 votes) I am one day further along than you are. It sounds like you may have blood pressure issues. Go to the doctor and have it checked out. I have high blood pressure and am on meds for it but my doc is always very concerned about my blood pressure control becuase it can cause problems for the baby in the long run. It is worth the time to go and have it checked. good luck and hope you feel better.
