Hi ladies, This morning at around 7:45am i woke up to some massive pain all over my belly. mostly on the lower sides. My belly was really tight and i could barely breath. It lasted for about a minute. Boy was i glad when that was over. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks, any comments will really let me know what that was.

I think most pregnant women have similar pains during pregnancy. It could be round ligament pain, Braxton Hicks contractions, or even gas pain. If the pain is accompanied by any of the following, see your doctor: painful urination (could be bladder infection or UTI), bleeding (which is never good during a pregnancy) or fever (which could signal infection). If they get too regular or last for extended periods of time, it could be from dehydration. With the heat right now, make sure that you are drinking plenty of water. Your uterus is a giant muscle and needs lots and lots of water. Good luck and never be afraid to sound silly and call your doctor if you have a genuine concern. It isn't being paranoid, it's being a good mom to make sure your baby is safe. Take care of yourself.

Sounds like a BH it is normal and can start at 6 weeks and as long as you don't have more than 4 in an hr you shouldn't worry. I got them (and still do) in the morning mostly when I really had to pee! I can tell you when I didn't know what it was I worried, but now I just try to relax and go pee!:} It might also happen when you haven't drank enough water. the pain part shouldn't be part of a BH though discomfort yes but pain could be a ligament stretch. My friend get those every morning since she was 16 weeks or so and she is now34wks. Good luck and if things get worse or change to concern you, call your doc!

all of the answers below are plausible. If you have pain like that, drink some water. Often you will get braxton hicks contractions because you are dehydrated. They occur b/c the uterus is always thirsty and when its dehydrated it becomes irritated and contracts in response. My contractions were often painful, but not usually until after 30 weeks. Before that, i had lots of stretching discomfort. Stop by my VIP site for more pregnancy tips and tips for labor/BF/child care etc.

Honey I had them through out my entire pregnancy. Mostly, they were when I was sleeping. It felt like a someone had scissors in there and was cutting everything. Out of breath, etc. Mine were "round ligament pains". Our ligaments stretch and that is what mine were. Go to the forums here or on yahoo and look it up. I bet that is what you have. Let me know if it is.

It could be a Braxton Hicks contraction, though most people don't experience pain with BH. But it really could have been gas! I had a gas bubble under my ribs one night and I seriously thought I was going to pass out it hurt so bad.
