What is a membrane sweep, and what is it supposed to do?

nannersmama - 115 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) They attempt to seperate the placenta from the uterine wall, causing contractions, and dilation, and so forth. It is not always effective. I had it done 3 times a week for a couple of weeks, and I still had to be induced. But, it is a good alternative to induction, as there is not any medication involved. Ps, you may spot afterwards, which is normal. Good luck!

blessedmom - 116 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) A membrane sweep is a painless way to jump start labor, your caregiver either take a finger or a Q-tips and swipe around your cervix and move the placenta off of it a little which make your body release oxitocin the hormone that start labor. I had it done and delivered 9 hours later.
