From what I understand, once you hit 28 weeks you are supposed to start doing kick counts. Can someone confirm if I`m doing this right? Once a day I`m supposed to be able to count ten movements within one hour`s time? And once I get ten movements in one hour, I don`t have to worry for the rest of the day? Somebody please verify. I read you`re supposed to pick the most active part of the baby`s day to do this but he has no pattern yet--it`s pretty random which has led to several scares in the last few weeks.

My midwife told me that it doesn't matter if you are doing kick counts or not. That as long as you feel your baby once a day, moving after you eat, poke your tummy or drink cold liquid, rest assured, baby is fine. I asked her about it after reading i should do it in the 'what to expect when you are expecting book." she said it was rediculous to do it as baby will sleep so much at this point. Also, if you want to read a book that will actually help you during labor, read "ina May's Guide to Childbirth" This was the BEST info I had ever read, helped me to get through labor with only Gas for pain control and gave me focus on whats important or not. I have more tips on my VIP site, but that is the best book and i recommend it to everyone i know that's pregnant. My other pregnant friends who read it as well said that it made their labor so much easier and most importantly, took away their fear.

I've also read if you don't feel any kicks in an hour then to maybe eat something small too, and/or drink milk or something sweet?? But never did I hear in just an hour, I'v read in 2 hours or so. Good luck and try not to worry...

I was also told not to count them unless I was worried about lack of movement for a while. I also was told that if I hadn't noticed movement for a while to drink something sweet and lay on my side and then do the kick count to ensure that everything was ok. I can only remember twice during my first pregnancy having to do the latter. I am only 14 weeks with this baby so I haven't had any kicks yet just the butterfly movements.

My midwife told me that i didnt have to count unless i hadnt felt him move for a while she told me to drink something sweet and lay on my side if you worry cause when you are ready to count your little one might be asleep and dont stress over it or it will scare you to death just drink something sweet it has worked every time for me best of luck
