Should hubby come to breastfeeding class with me? He`s willing, but I don`t want to waste his time - he works long hours. I put out a poll on this but only got one comment.

JennSever - 64 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) it might give him a better idea of what is to come - some women have no issues while others struggle and should you struggle he will have more empathy. bfd'ing is such a wonderful experience and the benefits are HUGE. he could begin to understand the beautiful bond that is created between mother and child when bfed. i really don't see the negatives of having him learn a bit more - but i do understand your hesitation at asking him. tell him that you would be fine either way and let him make the final decision. good luck nursing - its the absolute best!

Debra - 65 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) If you want the support, then yes. My husband just came with me to a prenatal course and read through the la Leche league book I got on BF before i gave birth. When I ended up in surgery he held the baby and gave baby his finger to suck on while they waited for me. As a result, baby had no problems latching and It was smooth sailing feeding him. Otherwise, i don't really see a need for him to attend a class. Just make sure you have a good book on hand. Please stop by my VIP site- i put my TIPS for success on there.

moms the word - 65 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) It is very educational for them and my husband loved it! It makes them feel more a part of the feedings cause they know what's going on even though they are feeding the baby themselves. Talk to your instructor though, they might not allow him. I have heard of some classes that are women only.

Cindie - 65 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Yes, i'd suggest it. because if you begin having trouble bf'ing. he may remember stuff you don't and be able to offer you helpful suggestions.

lizzie287 - 65 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Mine came with me to mine. There were lots of hubbies in our class with us. It's very beneficial for 2 ears to hear what they have to say rather than just yours. Also, they talk a lot about how your partner can support you while you breast feed and the extra vitamins/calories you will require. I think it's a good idea to bring him along if he can make it.

sarahann - 65 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I think if he wants to go, it's a great idea. When I was having trouble breastfeeding my partner remembered things that we were told/shown that I didn't, which really helped. Plus it helps for them to feel more involved and it can show them that you have extra needs when breastfeeding.

Its-Chelle - 65 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i would say its more for you than him of course..for obvious reasons..lol.but maybe he could attend a few at least.but it depends on your man, you know him and we dont.some men are ok with going and some arent.if i had went when i was prego, i wouldve told hubby not to go, for he works a lot too and doubt it would do him good to go..but thats me.good luck to ya

Sunshine1 - 65 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I dont have any children yet, but i would say what is the point of him going with you anyway, I know that you care about him getting rest and sleep since you say he works long hours and i think thats maybe a good idea. It's you who is going to be doing the breastfeeding. but then if he is the one that wants to go then leave it up to him, you know if he wants to be involved in all the small details and stuff like that.

summerisis - 65 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Oh, and my answer wasn't good enough? ;) *wink* lol

XIDJA - 65 days ago Rating: 5 (1 votes) I don't have first hand knowledge but have heard that yes its a good idea. A friend told me sometimes they will give tips to dad to help you out also. Or, sometimes he may remember something from the class that you forget, etc.
