miscarriage?

I went to the doc for my 1st visit. I am 8 weeks pregnant FOR SURE.. I know my dates and they are not wrong. The ultrasound was unable to find a embro in the sac. It was empty. How common is this?

jessicaolson82 - 71 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) HAVE THEM CHECK YOUR HCG LEVELS BECUASE WHEN THEY ARE AT A CERTAIN LEVEL THEY SHOULD SEE SOMETHING IN AUGUST i HAD GOTTEN PREGNANT AND I WENT TO THE DOCTOR RIGHT AWAY AT 4 WEEKS TO HAVE MY HCG LEVELS CHECKED RIGHT AWAY AS A BASE LINE AND 4 OR SO WEEKS LATER NO EMBRO HAD DEVELOPED AND I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH I BLIGHTED OVUM I THEN HAD A D&C, THEY SHOULD DO A FOLLOW UP ULTRASOUND IN A WEEK AND CHECK AGAIN. IT IS A REALLY HARD THING TO GO THROUGH. I HOPE THE BEST FOR YOU, I HAVE HAD A FEW SIFFENT KIDS OF MISCARRIAGES BUT I ALWAYS TRY AGAIN I NOW HAVE TWO LITTLE GIRLS AND I AM EXPECTING TWIN BOYS IN SEPT. NO FERTILITY DRUGS, BEST OF LUCK AND I HOPE ALL GOES WELL. I HOPE THEY SEE A LITTLE BEAN IN THERE.

ibaheir2dathrone - 71 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I would suggest waiting. I went to the Ob on May 12th, I should have been 8 weeks. They saw the sac but no baby. Had me do the blood level draw on Mon. Wed and again on Fri. numbers were, 19 thou, 21 thou and 23 thou. Went up but not much. I had another ultrasound scheduled for the 20th. Woo hoo, there was my bean with a heart rate of 170. my date of fert. was off by one week. I am now 13weeks preggers. Don't let them talk you into a D&C Until you are for sure. I was told it is pretty common and happens for unknown reasons and eventually my body just rejected it naturally without a d&C. But there is no reason though that you can't get pregnant again and carry a healthy full term baby. I am now 33 weeks pregnant. Hope that helps.

mewithbaby - 71 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Your date of your last menstrual period may be correct but who knows when you actually ovulated or fertilized. I would wait a couple of weeks and get another ultrasound.

JennSever - 71 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) honey, its very common. what you have sounds like a blighted ovum..where the body was preparing for pregnancy, but the embryo either didn't 'stick' or never fertilized. it's actually more common that women realize. mine happened when i went in for my 8 wks c/u too. there was no fetal heartbeat. miscarried naturally 48 hrs later. good luck.

Debra - 71 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I thought I was 8 weeks when I was only 5. At that time they saw a sac and no embryro. At 8 weeks there was a heartbeat.

moms the word - 72 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) They will probably do and ultrasound in a couple of weeks to check for any embryo then. It may just be that you are a little earlier than you think you are. It can take time for fertilization to occur once the sperm and egg are both present. The same thing happened to me. I thought I was 6 weeks but when I went and had my ultrasound, all they saw was an empty sac. Two weeks later, I went back and there was a fetal pole and yolk sac that measured only 5 weeks. That means I was only three weeks at the time of the first ultrasound. Every ultrasound since then is right on the money for how far along I am down to the day. Try to keep calm till your next ultrasound. I know how you are feeling and I am sorry that this is happening to you too. You will be in my prayers.

Amanda.M - 72 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) are you 8wks by conception or by ur last af? when i was 6wks preg takin dates from last af they found the sac but nothing in it and told to go back 2weeks later and when i did they detected the heart rate at 139bpm,so maybe you should have another u/s in a couple of weeks, wishing u all the best.

Allioop - 72 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I'm so sorry but it does sound like it may not be a viable pregnancy unless your dates are wrong. What type of ultrasound was it? They should at least be able to see a fetal pole at that stage. Did your Dr. send you for hCG levels? If your levels are good and continue to rise there is always the possibility that they just weren't able to locate the embryo. It's not common but it happens. Especially if it was an abdominal u/s. If it was a transvaginal one they are much better at detecting early pregnancy. I've had 2 m/c...the 2nd one I was about 7 weeks along and they were able to see the heart rate but it was only 51 bpm and so they knew I would miscarry. Try not to fret too much right now. Wait to hear what your Dr has to say and GOOD LUCK!!!!
