Have any of you been experiencing horrible low back cramps? It honestly feels like I`m on my period. My stomach tightens up with them, and they go away and come back, but I don`t feel any pain in the front ... Are these real contractions that I should be timing or something?

Debra - 68 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) they can be real contractions. Pay attention to them lightly and if they seem regular at all then pay MORE attention to them. Otherwise keep drinking water or fluids and change positions. If those 2 things dont' help them to fade away, then you may be in labor. See my VIP site for more on the diff of BH and real labor contractions and what they feel like.

aringer1 - 69 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) hey, I have been having the same thing, my lower back aches like I am about to start my period... sometimes they get worse and sometimes it just goes away. My stomache tightens and there is no pain. My mother said she had the same thing before she went into labor and it was all in her back and nothing in her belly. I am hoping these are early onset labor signs.. but its been days and I keep getting my hopes up. People tell me to go to the hospital to be safe, so I called the labor ward and they were awesome... they told me that I could go in if I like as that is what they are there for, and they will check and see, but the girl said she thinks this is normal. She told me also to keep track of the baby's movement as they slow down a little before labor. She told me to pay attention to discharge, and to time the contractions. There is a site with all the early onset symptoms.. I will post the link in this. I have all of them, but I have been having some for days. So I really dont know. I would start timing them, just dont get excited because it really sucks when they dont progress. Good luck!!:) http://transitiontoparenthood.com/ttp/parented/laborbirth/onset.htm

eastern-Canadian-Lady - 69 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I would say that since you are so far into your pregnancy, that it is possible that you are experiencing early labour. I would time them just to see if there is a pattern. (write them down) There may not be a patten, but if nothing else it should help you to relax. If there is a pattern I'd say it's time to take your bags with you to the hospital to get checked out. Many people that I have known have gone in for this same thing, and been admitted. They had to send people to get their things, which just added stress. In the meantime, perhaps consider using a cold or hot compress for a bit. good luck.

dawnispregz - 69 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) This is my first child so dont take it as gospel, but here goes! I was rushed into hospital at 20 weeks with contractions and the contractions were at the front, your stomach tightens gradually and then gets worse every time you have a contraction,it gets soooo bad that you feel you cant go on anymore with the pain and just at this point it eases off again, the time between the contractions become less and they are also in the back. Im gonna say that the back pain is purely back issues caused from pregnancy, If its where you have your period pains-muscles on both sides of back- then dont worry. Also the ligaments inbetween the vertebrae of the spine become extremely soft to support the weight of the ever growing baby and they cause serious pain. To help you with the pain you can buy lumbar support pillows/cushions for work or for infront of the T.V,and a hot water bottle/wheat bag totally helps. You can take paracetomol if you need medication. I have had back issues since i was 19(paralysed for short time) and there are little exercises that i have found really helpful. Go on all fours and gently move back so bum is on feet with back straight and arms out stretched on the floor, hold for a few seconds whilst breathing and then back to all fours and repeat. this stretches the back and relieves pain for me. I can only suggest this as everyones back is different and if you think that after a few repetitions and rest it doesnt ease or gets worse then i wouldnt suggest trying it again, as i dont want you to hurt your back. Also if it gets worse but you still want some TLC- perfect excuse to ask your loved one to massage ya- not laid on front of course, sat in front of good film and get him/her to massage ya x x x
