Regular soda wont hurt as long as you dont drink it all the time. Just drink caffeine free sodas. I have to drink diet if I drink a soda because of the gestational diabetes.

Having one regualar soda per day is not gonna hurt. Diet sodas are not good for you cause of the artificial sweeteners. It is not the sugar that is the problem unless you are diabetic. It is the caffeine. Try decaf soda it really doesn't taste any different. Also sodium levels are of concern especially if you have or are prone to high blood pressure. Just make sure you are still getting plenty of water.

diet is worse than regular, its the artificial sugar in the diet that they are not 100% sure is safe in pregnancy (or anytime for that matter) id go with the regular, its not that good for you either but a little occasionaly is ok, i just dont like the thought of drinking artificial chemicals, id rather have real sugar, at least that is kinda natural....kinda ^_^

I've read that newer studies are saying that drinking soda and coffee dont really effect the baby...dont know how true that is ( I personally dont drink either) But thought it would make you feel better to know... :D

my best friend is diabetic and can only drink diet sodas. her baby turned out healthy and almost 8 pounds. the light coloured drinks have no caffiene (except some mountain dew). so i don't know but i suggest drinking the caffiene free kind of whatever you choose. caffiene does affect the baby somewhat- my best friend drank a medium coffee before her ultrasound and her baby was jumpin all over the place

Could try something new: Mix soda water (seltzer) with fruit juice. My favorite is half seltzer and half cranberry, with a twist of lime.

Apparently aspertame and artificial sweetners are worse for the baby than the caffiene and sugar in regular soda, my doc told me if i was going to drink it to try to drink the clear or light coloured drinks (ie: sprite, gingerale) because they had less of the sugar and caffiene.

regular is what my OB told me to drink, because the fake sugar is worse for baby than the real sugar...
