So I`m 37 weeks pregnant. I`m still waiting for my baby to drop. Thing is my legs have been so swollen that I really spend most of my days laying down with my legs up on the side of my couch. I just got really paranoid that this position, while good for the swelling, might keep the baby from dropping into my pelvis?? Can this happen or does the baby defy gravity when it`s time to go down?

if this is your first pregnancy then you are likely to drop. Subsequent pregnancies, babies don't usually 'drop' before birth. You need to keep off your feet at this stage of the game, but if you've been on your feet most of your pregnancy- ie. don't have a deskjob, then its probable that baby is in a good position already. LOL No, baby will come down regardless of how you are sitting, standing, lying down! Dropping simply means that the baby's head will drop further into the pelvis and for some people that's noticeable for a few weeks before birth and for some it's not so noticeable. Some people go into labor with the baby's head still way up in a -2 station...
My ankles swelled a lot with my first baby and I stayed off my feet a lot too and she still came! As a matter of fact, she came 10 days before her due date!
