Never had one of those you're talking about but my cousin has one and it didnt work for her. Even when she was towards the end of her pregnancy. I got a doppler from ebay and its like the ones the doctors use and it works great.

I have one by FirstSounds but I think they are the same and mine does not work for me at all. It says to wait till the 3rd trimester but I am impatient so I've tried it and and put it back in the box disappointed. I ended up renting a doppler from Storkradio.com and couldn't be happier with it. The heartbeat is easy to find and comes in clearly. I've even been able to let family in other stares hear the baby over the telephone. I wish I had just rented in the 1st place...

it might not work till 12 weeks as its a listener not a doppler (it just amplifies sound, doesnt use sound waves to pick it up like ultrasound dopplers) but ive heard of them working from around 12 weeks onwards. it is allways so exiting to hear your babys heart beeting and very reasuring, i hope it does work for you.

I have a hi-bebe fetal doppler that I got on ebay for about 100.00 and it works amazing!! I heard the hb at 12 weeks and it has never missed when I have used it. Well worth the money... sounds like you may want to trade yours in for a slightly better model.

any at home dopplers are really heard to use unless you are a pro and know what you are doing. Its hard to distinguish static from your placenta artery and baby's heart beat. I tried using the doppler from my work (im an RN) and we have super strength doppler's at work for listening to pedal pulses and i could never get anything. My midwife got our babies HR in her office at 13 weeks and she said its rare to hear it that early with the doppler. So don't be dissapointed or worried if you can't hear anything. Stop by my VIP site for tips on preg/labor/packing/BF etc.

I tried one in the store and it didnt work. I would recomend getting one from ebay. I got the same one my dr uses for only 95.00 and was about to use it from week 11 on. It is so nice to listen to the heart beat/ kicks whenever I get nervous. :)

It didn't work for me either. If you're really interested in getting a quality doppler, they are available to affordably rent from a number of places like bellybeat.com (where I got mine). Do bear in mind that at week 10, it's still early to get a consistent heartbeat even with a professional level machine; by week 12 you should get better results.

It doesn't work! I am now 35 weeks and the box said to try it in your 3rd trimester and that it works best late in the 3rd. Well, i'm late in my 3rd and still don't hear a thing but static. I've adjusted the volume and done it in complete silence and it still doesn't work! It'a waste of time and $. I paid 25.00 for mine in week 13! I was so excited to us it I even tried it out the n ight I bought it! Sorry
