today i am 10 weeks today and really do not know how many months am i

Allioop - 141 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Pregnancy is actually 10 months long when counted from the first day of your last menstrual period. 4 weeks=1 month. So if you make it to 40 weeks pregnant (your due date) you are actually considered 10 months pregnant. At 10 weeks you are considered 2.5 months pregnant. I do not agree with Robin G's answer. This is my 3rd pregnancy and my Dr's always did it the way I mention, despite the fact that months are usually longer than 4 weeks. My first baby I said I was almost 6 months pregnant (at 27 weeks) and my Dr. said "No, you will be 7 months at 28 weeks". Maybe every Dr. does it differently, but that's the way my Dr's have always dated my pregnancies. Typically in the first trimester they always use weeks...ask your Dr. if you really want to know when you get into your second trimester.

patience21 - 141 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Isnt that confusing. Im 25 weeks but have no idea if im 6 months or 5 months along. I heard a pregnancy is actually 9 1/2 months long and thats why doctors measure pregnancy by weeks instead of months. But im not to sure. Rather confusing.

AmBear - 141 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) here is the "mathmatical" way to figure it out... You take 40 divide it by the weeks you are, which for you will be 4... Then you take 9.5 (the real amount of months we are pregnant) divide it by 4 (what we got from the first part) which is 2.4 months! Its the easiest way to figure it out throughout your entire pregnancy! Hope this was helpful

RobinG - 142 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) A month is rarely if ever 4 weeks (28 days) so it is not used to determine months gestation by docs. Formally you are the # of months by the date of your last period. If the first date of your last period was April 24th for example you will be another month along each 24th of the month. This will be used at doc apmnts that refer to months gestation and doc apmnts for your baby once born. If the baby is born January 28th your baby will be a month older every 28th of the month, not every 4 weeks. This is how doc apmnts and insurance companys acknowledge it ~ So you will be 3 months July 24th for example ~ Even if you are 13 or so weeks ~

Yes every doc is def different ~ this is my third pregnancy and we lived in 3 different towns for each and my last was high risk so we went to the perinatal center too so I actually had 4 different docs and all did it the same as I described. My SIL works there as well as an RN and was a L&D nurse for years and she too said that ~ I used to say pregnancy is 10 months and she said no its 9.5 so who knows ~ guess you just have to ask your doc and see what they say. I do know that you are a "month" more along when you've completed that specific month and "in your _ month" if you havent completed that month yet ~ So I'd say you are 2.5 mnths and in your 3rd month. I was reading online and found there to be a variation in what the first trimester was ~ it said it is when you've completed 12-13 weeks. So it isnt even exactly clear.
