I am in early labor.. but I have been quite energetic through this, I mean I take naps, but today I have pretty much slept the whole day, I went to bed early last night too... when I get up I am still extremely tired and can continue to sleep.. I am forcing myself up because my husband is on his way home from work, and I need to get stuff done. Does this happen before labor? I thought everyone got the nesting instinct and went on an insane cleaning spree

i was in labour for so long, that after the first day i was so exahsted that i was passing out between contractions, everyone was getting worried that when it came time to push i would not be able to, but when i knew it was time, i knew, they wuldnt listen to me and i got up and 10 mins later i had my baby!
rest now as much as you can, even if your just sitting, its better than nothing.

Before going into labor I didnt get into the nesting either. I did the day I came home from hospital though. My mom and hubby kept telling me to rest and sit down. I finally did after noticing my feet were swelling up.

nope. I never did. my sister did and i wished i nested as i had a LOT of stuff to do. i was just exhausted all the time. Nap as much as you can! Husbands can clean, so can maids. Food can be ordered. No one can sleep for you though and it may take you weeks to catch up on your sleep. After my birth i didn't sleep much for about 4 nights. The first time i slept was for an hour (where i actually felt rested and didn't just have weird dreams) and it was when we got home, thursday afternoon. I had the baby on monday morning. I only slept for an hour or so at a time between feedings. If you are breastfeeding, (or bottle feeding a newborn) it can take up to an hour each feeding as you need to let them suck 15-30 min per side and offer each side per feed. You need to feed baby every 3 hours. After each feed you burp baby (and a sleepy newborn can take up to 20 min to burp) and then change baby before you can lay them back down to sleep and thus have your sleep. My baby first started sleeping through a night feeding at 8 weeks and by then I was pretty much insane with fatigue. And that's early and lucky according to a lot of other mommies. So sleep it up!!!!!! now. And please stop by my VIP site for tips on breastfeeding. If you have ANY questions, i'll be glad to help. I also have tips for getting baby to sleep through the night too. Good luck~!
