Can somebody who has had one done tell me what happens during a biophysical? I`m curious what gets measured, scanned, etc. I`m going to start having them every week after 33 weeks and I`m curious.

A biophysical profile checks the fluid level, watches baby for practice breathing, muscle tone (opening and closing hands, for example) and muscle movement ( a good punch, kick or solid movement). These are often done with a non stress test. I have had 3 already, and another one on Monday. It basically evaluates the condition of the baby and the uterus. If baby passes all this, it is deemed to be doing well in its environment. If baby has good fluid level it is 2 points, if baby passes Nst it is 2 points, if they have the have 2 tones, it is 2 points and if there are 2 solid movements,it is 2 points. Oh, 2 points for good practice breathing.... A total of 10 points...Mine only scored an 8 last week, but she was still condsidered healthy....sorry, I wrote a ton, hope it helps.

I had one with my first, but not until I was 41 weeks. They only really had a chance to check the heartrate. The fluid was so low, that they couldn't see much else. Needless to say, I was sent directly to L&D for induction! Sorry I can't be of more help.
