I have a High Efficency washer...which needs High efficency detergent. Dreft doesnt make a HE brand..and the others I see are just free and clear of perfumes and dyes..Are they safe for baby? Or maybe I should use a powder detergent?

Debra - 60 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) You can still use detergents that are not 'HE' My washer is front loading and i use liquid tide and finished off my box of powdered sunlight after we moved in. You don't need to use a special sensitive skin detergent, but you can if you or your partner have sensitive skin or allergies as there would be a good chance that your baby would too. http://kidshealth.org/parent/pregnancy_newborn/basics/laundry.html I can't remember what brand we used but I know I used it for maybe 6 weeks and then switched back to my regular TIDE as he didn't seem to have any problems and the baby detergent wasn't getting the poop/puke stains out.

Just read amber's note. hmmm. I didn't know that not using HE would damage my machine. boo.

Allioop - 60 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I used regular laundry detergent with both of my kids and they never had a bad reaction. If your child has sensitive skin then the Free and Clear detergents will be just fine!

amber325 - 60 days ago I have to use HE stuff now...I had my washer serviced and they could tell I hadnt been using it prior. They cleaned all the motors and said if it is like that again my waranty is voided, since none HE detergent is too heavy and will eventually break the washer.

skittles0607 - 60 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I used dreft a few times and then I switched to regular. As long as it doesnt irritate the baby it should be fine.

Tonya- - 60 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I am using Dreft and thats all my sister has ever used

julianna - 60 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) You can use dreft in a HE washer, youi just use about 1/3 of what you'd normally use. If you are set on Dreft, then just use it sparingly. I have always used the same detergent for my baby's clothes as for mine without any allergic reactions.

aulrobbri - 60 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I don't use HE detergent in my HE washer and have not had any problems

amber325 - 60 days ago Yeah I wasn't planning on using Dreft either way b/c I cant stand the strong smell it has. But is ALL or TIDE free and clear safe enough? I have the TIDE one I was going to try it on the clothing...but I would hate to wash ALL of it and then have to redo it later on lol.

leahs - 60 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I never used 'baby' detergent with any of my kids and their father has sensitive skin issues, I had no problems with their clothes irritating them. Try a couple of baby's undershirts etc in your regular wash first and see if they cause a problem, if not I wouldn't worry about it.

dvsrunt - 60 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I never used Dreft with my daughter. I used the same detergent I use. She never seemed to have any issues. My girlfriends never used it either. We use H.E. ALL. I'm sure I will do the same with this baby.
