Itchy skin is common in pregnancy but in some cases it can be something more serious. I would think if none of the meds are helping and you cant breathe then it may be something else. Heres something I found on the net about itchy skin in pregnancy........
Can intense itching ever be a sign that something is wrong?
Severe itchiness in the second or, more commonly, in the third trimester can be a sign of intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy, a liver problem that affects less than 1 percent of pregnant women in the United States.
When bile doesn't flow normally in the small ducts of your liver, bile salts accumulate in your skin and make you itch all over. The itching can be quite intense. The condition itself doesn't cause a rash, but you may end up with red, irritated skin with little cuts in areas where you're scratching a lot.
Call your doctor or midwife immediately if you think you have cholestasis because it may spell trouble for your baby. Your caregiver will do blood tests to check your liver as well as ultrasounds and fetal heart monitoring to check on your baby.
Depending on your health and your baby's condition, you may be induced before your due date. This problem goes away after you have your baby, although you may get it again with your next pregnancy.

Yeah, once I read the "hard to breathe" part I'd have to agree that you may want to make a trip to the hospital. Better to be safe than sorry. Good luck:)

I had this with my first pregnancy!! It was horrible!! Id be wearing clothes and have to strip them off. My dr tried meds, too. This happened a few weeks before I had my daughter. None of the meds worked. A lukewarm bath would sometimes help for a few minutes. We eventually found out that there was no amniotic fluid left, and I'd swollen really bad...all that fluid had to go somewhere! They had to induce me cause of the fluid being gone, and me and the baby's heartbeat had switched. I suggest if it's hard to breathe, you call the dr or go to the hospital. Hopefully you aren't experiencing the same thing, but that's my story. Good Luck!
