So, I am having a hard time sleeping at night because I keep rolling on to my back and I wake up because I am paranoid. I read that after 16 weeks you are not supposed to lay on your back. Anyone else having this issue?

haha, i was never a back sleeper because i loved my tummy, but sleeping on my side is not always very comfortable and i wake up on my back. what i learned though is if you prop yourself up a little bit with a few pillows you can sleep fine on your back.

Do you have a body pillow? It is the only thing that saves me.

You'll start to feel sick if there's too much pressure on your vein that runs through your back. You'll automatically want to move onto your side.

As of now I am 30 weeks...and still sleep on my back. I assume the baby will let me know when its time to sleep on my side.

I bought a pregnancy pillow from babies-r-us. It's a c shape and almost wraps around you. I tend to sleep on my back or belly, so this prevents me from totally rolling on either. I also find I sleep much better with the pillow. It keeps everything in line.

I would wake up on my back throughout both of my pregnancies---the only problem I had was when I got towards the end it would put so much pressure on my back that sometimes it would take a minute before I could move my legs!!! It was scary!

feel free to lie on your back as much as you want unless it makes you feel uncomfortable. I slept whatever way made me comfortable until i hit about 33 weeks, then i started to feel nauseated and uncomfortable unless I was on my left. So have no worries, your baby will let you know if you are cutting off his/her blood supply. You will start to feel weak, nauseated and dizzy. It won't harm your baby unless you don't listen to your body and move. Please also come by my VIP site as I have written down everything that helped me during pregnancy, labor, and breast feeding, along with tips from other mommies, my midwife and anyone who told me their secrets. I hope this helps you too! i'm an RN and feel free to ask any questions you may have along the way!

Yes, and my doc said I should sleep in whatever position I am comfortable. I'm now at 31 wks and mostly sleep on my side, but I still sometimes wake up on my back. When that happens I usually either roll back over, or sometimes I'll put an extra pillow behind me so I'm not totally flat on my back.
