Im debating if I should sleep upstairs or downstairs woth my last pregnancy I also had a c-section I went upstairs but just couldnt stay up there I started using the stairs 5 days after I had my son and by day 8 my wound opened the problem with dtaying downstairs is that my couch is very uncomfortable.Any suggestions on what I can do to stay upstairs without getting stubborn and going doing stairs I thought maybe lots of movies and getting a mini fridge. My hubby will be home I just dont depending on him fully.

my aunt had the same problem, she just moved the matress down stairs, but she had a fold out ounge to put it on, i wouldnt put it on the floor, that would be asking for trouble.... you may just have to live upstairs for two weeks ^_^

arnica pellets to help your wound heal faster. Also brace yourself when you move around. Walk slowly and DON"T go upstairs unless you are going to sleep. Ask your doc about getting 'steri-strips' for over your wound. It will help pull the skin closed and keep it tight. It will also decrease scarring. Make sure you are staying hydrated and eating foods that are rich in iron (as it will encourage red blood cell production and help you heal faster). Avoid sugar as well as it puts your metabolism in a catatonic state and reduces healing. Also make sure your home is smoke-free (smoking reduces oxygen carrying capabilities to the cells).

with my 1st & 2nd csecs we had a 2 story house & all the bedrooms & the SINGLE BATHROOM that we had was upstairs. i only went upstairs when i HAD to go to the bathroom & to go to bed... otherwise i slept in our recliner or on the couch downstairs. fortunately i never had a problem with my incision. THANK GOD we live in a one level house now! this csection & baby should be a breeze!

i also have had a c-section before and now am going in for a scheduled 1 and with my 1st i slept upstairs in my bed because my couch to was not comfortable enough for me to sleep on i didnt have any problems but it did take me a few mins to get up there. just becareful and u should be fine, with me i made sure i didnt stand straight up while going up the stairs so the skin didnt stretch too far.

do you have an inflatible mattress? you might want to get one, that way when you have visitors they have something comfy to sleep on also!

Why not buy an inflatable mattress and sleep on that downstairs? It might be better than your couch

I've had two sections and was told use stairs once a day for the first month or at least 2-3 weekss. We have baby care items on both floors and two changing tables, one of each floor. Going down isnt the concern it is going up ~ get up in the morning do all you need to do upstairs then go down for the day and go back up at bedtime :)
