can they determine gender at 12 week ultrasound for 1st trimester screening test

allioop - 88 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) It is possible but the error rate is higher the earlier you have it done. Many Dr.'s will not tell you even if they *think* they know for this reason. The sex organs actually are already in place by 12 weeks and if you were able to examine your baby outside the womb, they would be able to tell if it was a boy or a girl, but through ultrasound it is much more difficult. Both sexes start out with a sort of nub between the legs---this will become the penis in boys and will shrink in girls to become the clitoris. So if you do get a gender at your 12 week u/s, be wary---there is a good chance it could be wrong!

Spike - 88 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) No. your baby is rougly the size of a lemon and while it has started to develop its genitals, boys still look like girls till at least the 14th week. Theoreticaly if you got a perfect picture where the genitals were not obscured by legs or chord or anything else a 3d scan could tell at this age. However the chances of get that perfect shot are rare. 18 - 20 is the best time to try, but i wouldnt try earlier than 15 weeks at the most

azmommytobe - 88 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) When I had my 13 week u/s there was no way to tell. They are the size of a peanut! lol If you have the CVS or Amnio then they can tell from the amniotic fluid. I found out at 18 weeks (I had the screen test at 13 weeks)

HaleyD - 88 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) my brother and his girlfriend found out at their 12 weeks US. It was a boy...then they had their 20 weeks and it was still a boy. The genitals are there, the docs refrain from telling you because their are more errors made the earlier you find out.
