my 3 wk old girl was 4 wks premature and I have been pumping to give her my milk, but I still want to breastfeed. everytime I try she wont lach on. Is it to late for her to get it? and how long can you go without pumping before you dry up? because I think I have already noticed a decrease in my milk just because I havent been pumping every 3 hrs.! grrr

chrisk828 - 113 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Keep pumping so when she does get the hang of it you will have enough to give. No it's not too late but be patient when helping her get the hang of it. It will work out!

Debra - 113 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) You have to keep pumping every 3 hours regardless and stay hydrated and eat well. If you don't, your milk supply will go down as you have already noticed. Keep trying. Read my VIP site for tips on getting her to latch. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. I've taught breastfeeding basics in the past. Rubbing on milk is a great suggestion. Make sure she is hungry and try to offer boobs before bottle EVERY time. Get her to open her mouth up really wide and squeeze your breast/nipple with your thumb and forefinger to make it easier for her to latch on. You can also try letting her get a good suck going on your finger first. Make sure she is really alert before you try as well. Undress her and make her cold if you have to. Its not too late. I've heard of many women on here who became successful at it after a few weeks had passed. It just takes alot of patience and to keep trying.

eastern-Canadian-Lady - 113 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) No. I think she can still get it. My said anywhere up to I think 12 weeks the milk will still flow, but to make sure you still pump bc the milk does decrease the less you pump. baby will adjust to it, maybe not as quickly as you would like, but it will be ok. keep trying, and good luck!

luckywhite - 113 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i would keep the pumping and at every time she is due a feed squeeze a little milk out and rub it round your nipple so she smells it and roots for it.. just keep trying
