Hi i am planning a home water birth. I am 33 weeks pregnant and upto now everything is looking good for the homebirth. I will have 3 midwifes on call and live only 5 minutes away from the hospital if i did need to be transferred. Every homebirth story i have read has been positive and has made me even more determined to have my baby at home. Good luck x

My cousin (and close friend) had 4 of her 5 children at home, and she loves it, and her midwife. She was in active labor with her last one for 3 days though. That being said, I had my baby in a hospital and loved the experience- great caring staff, wonderful doctor who worked with what I wanted, and the best part??? an epidural- the best invention ever. Sometimes a smaller country hospital is a good compromise, because it will sometimes have small homey touches (rocking chairs in the room, great nurse to patient ratio, few other patietns- i was the only one in labor when i had my baby) but if you change your mind you have an epidural right there, or if your blood pressure sky rockets mid labor like mine did, they can easily hook you up to medicine to keep you from having a stroke

I have not had on but my mom had me and my 6 brothers and sisters at home. If my insurance covered it I would highly consider it. If your not sure a birthing center is a great alternative!

I didnt have one but did a fair amount of research on it. You can plan on one but its not a guarantee. If there are any sorts of complications or hang ups (like breach presentation, diabetes, large baby, small pelvis, etc.) you have to go somewhere with medication intervention, if needed. You would need to talk to your midwife about it and find out if its a possibility for you. You would need to have a midwife who does home birth, a gynocologist wouldnt.
