My boyfriend startes his vacation time on my due date. I`m worried baby will come late, and he will have taken time off and baby isnt even here. He only gets a week off. Think i should tell him to take his vacation a week after my due date, just to be on the safe side? Or do you think i can get dr to induce me so i can have baby on due date?

Debra - 1280 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Is there any chance his job would be flexible enough to let him start his time of or give notice when you go into labor? Honestly, you shouldn't get induced just for that. It can be dangerous for you and your baby. Best to let yourself go into labor naturally if possible and be induced if you need to be induced. You will also have an easier recovery then too. Unfortunately babies come when they want to. Its never a good idea to mess with their plan unless its medically warrented.

xbabybeanx - 1280 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) That could happen to be honest. I had family travel from spain to see their great grandchild but ended up going back before she was born. My mum also took a week off to help me but that also came and went. My daughter was 12 days late and i'm having exactly the same problem with my partner and his paternity leave. We just don't know when to book it. I would suggest that he book it for the week after your baby is due and then he is guarenteed to spend time with the baby even if it does come early. In regards to being induced i wouldn't have thought that they will induce you unless it is medically needed. Just ask your doctor, all they can say is no. Lastly get your man to find out if they will be flexiable with his holiday, possible let him take it with immediate effect from the day your baby is born? Hope that helps a bit x

Julianna - 1280 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) See if his employer will be flexible with his vacation. See if they will let him start it on the day the child is born & then take a week off from there. It looks like he probably doesn't qualify for FMLA because he's not been with his employer a year, but maybe they will be understanding. all he can do is ask

riknlee - 1280 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) no one has a crystal ball. we are trying to decide when my mum should come down too. There is just no way to know, except to as the others say and to talk to the work about the situation and hope that they understand.

CassandraLee - 1280 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) You need to read up on the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Most people qualify for it, and if he does his company has to allow him time off (up to 12 weeks) upon your babies arrival. Check it out and see if he/his company meet the few qualifications. Due dates are estimates, not guarantees. Most babies dont come on their due dates. Your doctor isnt going to induce you for that. Have him call in sick if baby comes before his vacation.

katznkt - 1280 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I was a first time mom, and my baby came a full week early. Think about these things: will you have some family or lots of other people around to help you out around the house? because if you will, it wouldnt be completly horrible if he wasnt around week one of babys life. He could call in sick to work to be with you for the birth, then just enjoy his vacation when he is off. Another thing to consider is would it be horrible to have a couple days before the baby was born for just him and you time? It will be the last guilt free private time for a looooooonnnng time. What it comes down to is having somebody around to help with the baby, and having him there for the actual birth. My husbands job wouldnt let him off early, and we couldnt afford for him to take a week off or even a few days, so he ended up just calling in the day that I had her. He witnessed the birth, then went home to sleep, and was back the next day around the time he had to work. It really wasnt as bad as I thought it would be because I had so many friends and family around, and he was there for the birth. Other than that I was really out of it, and had to be in the hospital for a couple of days after birth, which wouldnt have been fun for him to be stuck there too anyways. Good luck

Rebekahs-mama - 1280 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Is it possible for his work to be more accomidating and just allow him to take his leave whenever the baby arrives? That would be ideal for sure. If not then it might be good to take it a few days later just in case. But then it would really suck if the baby came on the due date or earlier! I really think most places of business are understanding, though. He just has to be open and honest about the situation. Good luck!
