my boyfriend is on disability. His check comes under his moms name though. We are expecting our first child. I am ab 6 months pregnant. We were told by a friend that with him being on disability that he may be able to receive a check for the baby as well. Now, I dnt trust his mother at all. And if that check comes under her name, I know I wont receive not even half of it for my baby. Is there any way I can get the check to come in my name or am I just screwed less I take her to court? I just want to make sure my baby gets all her money. His mother is very money hungry and greedy. I know what she will do. I want to take half that check and buy my daughter things she needs like food clothes diapers etc and the other half i think should be put into a savings account for when she gets older! But i cant do that if that check goes to his house and his mother takes over half of it. She wont even tell me how the check is. Shell only lie. So idk what i can do in order to make sure my baby is done right. any advice is welcomed and i thank you all for your input.

mzblondex - 98 days ago my bf went on disability at a very young age and it was filed under his moms name. they never changed it into this name when he got old enough bc they say it goes to his rent, food, etc...he doesnt have to pay for anything. so they just leave it like it is. now my question is directed to my babys check. if she is even able to get one. i called a social worker at the ss office yesterday and they told me that we may not even be able to receive a check for our baby it all depends on my boyfriends case. so idk.

smilebig27 - 99 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) First how old is your bf? His check should come in his name if he is adult. He needs to go down the the disability place and have the check come in his name. I have a friend that gets checks and he got his to come in his name and he is 18 years old. You should talk toyour bf and see what is really going on. That just don't sound right to me there is more to the story.

Laura14 - 99 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) well i dont think theres anything you can do to get it in your namelybut its your boyfriends cheques...his money because hes the one with the disabililty why his parent are taking his money from him is beyond me especially when he has a family to support. id talk to your bf calmly and controlled and get the situation sorted, its his money hes entitled to it not you or his father or mom. he needs to make the call if this is his income as he has a new baby to help provide for.

Julianna - 99 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I am really confused also that if he is on disability and not a minor, why is his mother getting his disability checks? Something is screwy with that! Has he named her as his power of attorney or someting of the sort? It jsut doesn't make any sense. HE needs to be an adult and make some phone calls on his own behalf and on the behalf of his unborn child

CassandraLee - 99 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) There's nothing you can do to get it put into your name. I dont understand, if the checks are for HIS disability, why are they going to his mother and in her name? That doesnt sound right. I cant imagine why the insurance company or the government would be putting someone elses name on the checks? Thats something your boyfriend has to deal with. He needs to contact the appropriate people and have the checks put in his name. If you guys are afraid that his mother will take the checks then maybe he should get a PO box and have the checks sent there. He cant be afraid of "going behind his parents". He's going to be a father and needs to worry about his child.

mzblondex - 99 days ago i called the social security office and they wont give me any information! they say that my bf has to call. bc it will depend on his case. he dnt wanna go behind his parents like that. and he wont get the checks put into his name bc he thinks thats screwing his parents over. the check for now is going to his rent to live there. but as far as the baby getting a check, idk whats gonna happen....

xbabybeanx - 100 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) As the mother i'm sure any money for your child would go to you. I'm sure you should be able to find out from your citizens advice bureau. x

my2kidsarecuter - 100 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Your boyfriend needs to get the checks in his name. Why doesnt he? If its his money, he should be able to change who the check is made out to (himself, or you). I know bc my husband receives disability.
