Does anyone know why you have to sleep on your left side. Is it okay to sleep on your right side??? I just cant seem to sleep on the left! But i only ever hear about sleeping on your left!!

harpchick - 1277 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Sleeping on your left is especially beneficial if you're experiencing edema in your ankles. Circulation of blood and lymph is much improved when you're on your left side, and your liver benefits from not getting squashed. I notice when I sleep on my right, my ankles are puffier than when I sleep on my left, and the doc agreed.

amy2088 - 1279 days ago Thanks guys!!! I wasnt sure if i was doing any damage by sleep on the right!! Makes sense now! :)

TashaBug - 1279 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) From what I heard it's because sleeping on your right will put pressure on one of your nerves. I slept on my right side during my entire pregnancy and no problems. Sleep however is comfortable for you. Trust me...you need to get your sleep NOW while youstill can. lol

loifergal - 1280 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i heard the liver is on your right side so in order not to squash it its better to sleep on your left.

sadiee - 1281 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i didn't know you were supposed to sleep a certain way and i am almost 34 weeks. aha. i don't sleep on my belly or anything, but my baby seems to be alright with me sleeping on either side. she kicks my sides a crap load!

riknlee - 1281 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I got this in an email today about sleeping positions, Hope it helps To be as comfortable as possible and get the most sleep while you're pregnant, avoid sleeping on your belly or on your back. Sleeping on your belly will put pressure on the baby and may lead to complications down the road. Sleeping on your back puts significant pressure on your lower back and possibly on your intestines as well. The ideal position for sleeping is on your side (ideally on the left), with the top leg crossed over the bottom leg, and a pillow between them. This position encourages the flow of blood and nutrients to the placenta, while minimizing the amount of pressure on your lower back. This position may feel a little uncomfortable the first few nights, but you should eventually get used to it and hopefully discover that you experience a deeper, more satisfying sleep.

baby-momma09 - 1281 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i sleep more comfortably on my left than my right. sometimes ill roll over to the right but i haven't had one full nights rest on the right side. i have pillows everywhere!

katznkt - 1281 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I got tired of sleeping on the same side so i kept switching sides. a good rule is if u are comfortable then so is the baby

moms the word - 1281 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) It is fine to sleep on either side. Doctors recommend the left because it is supposed to provide better circulation for the baby. Just try to start out on your left when you go to bed. If you get one of those body pillows maybe it will keep you from rolling over as easily. My doctor always tells me to sleep however is comfortable so I can get some rest and just avoid sleeping on my back because it can decrease bloodflow to the placenta.
